One week review
Uninistalled.

Yea I got it free with EPIC, so I'm sure most of you will say "good" and you people are a big part of the problem. This game caters to the terminally online. People whose only friends are a list of 50 or so people they've never met. If you don't have a squad to team up with, you're simply going to have a bad time. The majority in game players are poor communicators, and if you don't know them they act like you'd expect a 6 year old to act. If you do get someone who is worth speaking to, his mic will probably be deafeningly loud.

The game is rife with cheaters. I don't want to hear "skill issue", there are literally people outrunning the troop transports on foot. And sure the speed hackers are obvious so they get booted quick but the wall hackers are a different story, and in a game this reliant on the ability to hide behind cover there's no point in dealing with that kind of abuse.

Beyond that there are simple problems with the game design. Example: Snipers. You can only snipe if you're in a recon squad, fine. There are a max of two recon squads per team, okay. There's a max of one sniper per recon squad, I guess. You can only be the sniper if you're the second to join, you might as well give up on ever trying to be the sniper. I got to level 27 and never ONCE got to try the sniper rifle because I could only START a recon squad, meaning I don't get to snipe, or I could try to join someone else's squad of which there is a 100% chance of being denied. Wonderful design.

This game is a tragedy for what it could be and isn't.

Starts with insults towards the community and an untrue statement since I can chalk up 3/4 of my playtime to playing in random squads.

Middle portion is just flatout a skill issue. (How many flies will I attract this time?)

The last section is just moaning about not getting to play a role which frankly just reads as entitled rambling.

Honestly, yeah, I'm personally kind of glad you didn't like the game enough to stick around, if these are the primary issues that's making you uninstall, you weren't the type of player the game needed.

Edit: bit of an extra thing: https://steamcommunity.com/app/686810/discussions/0/604145113592044831/#c777534074828892718

I like how many people are so utterly insecure that they have to broadcast it to a bunch of strangers. The post is so bad faith that there's no actual discussion to be had.

The game tries to have some semblance of historical accuracy...very few soldiers were running around with scoped sniper rifles in WW2.

Buy the game for a friend, and play with that friend. Then you can be sniper, and you'll be a more effective recon team because you'll communicate like friends do. When I play with a buddy, we literally get a recon squad almost 100% of the time. We take turns being the sniper.

Long story short, this game rewards you for not solo playing. It's a team-based game, get a team.

Ironically, your first statement implies that the game is only played by people without friends. My rebuttal is the people who have the most fun on this game play it with friends. YMMV.

According to WW2 organizational doctrine, units were rife with snipers. Yup! The first thing you did in boot camp was take an eye-test through a scope. We couldn't manufacture lenses fast enough. Same with all the other belligerents. Never mind explosives, engineering, AT, or vehicle maintenance. By God we had entire companies of snipers. Hell, in 1944 we could pull a myopic math geek out of Brooklyn and he'd hitting through a Warner and Swasey in a week. Ev-rey-bod-y wants to be a sniper. Just ask 'em.

there is one way to fix cheating, and that is to keep linking the game with a custom linker to randomize statics per build and release a build couple hours, so crackers won't have time to find all addresses they need before a new build is in place.

and studios knows this, but to make this work they need at least a dozen people working full time just to secure the game, and that is probably over 2 or 3 million per year - and they will not pay this, so they instead pay EAC for peanuts.

as said above, your best bet is Community Servers, but even admins cheat on those.. it's an issue with computer games and it will only be solved when someone does what I described and such becomes market practice.

I do not get the obsession so many people have with playing the sniper class. I admit it is my least played class after commander, but the handful of times I played as one it did not feel as if I was having as much impact on the game as other classes. Yay, I have a scope and can rack up kills at long range.. It is fun for a moment, but I would argue that someone playing engineer or AT well contributes much more to the win. Recon spotter is incredibly powerful and is my preferred role if I want to sneak around behind the lines.
