Help optimise Graphics and NVIDIA GPU.
Hey guys,

Would appreciate some help on this as i'm new to PC gaming coming over from HLL on console, but i'm not quite satisfied with the way HLL looks on my gaming Laptop, looks super grainy and pixilated, I'm Currently running all the settings on low & medium with my textures on high and Community TAA on medium. Also running it in dx-12 which helps a lot with the FPS. Not sure if i have to change some settings in NVIDIA control panel or something?

My specs are:
CPU- AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics
RAM- 20Gb of DDR4
GPU- GTX 1650 (4Gb VRAM)

also have it installed on an SSD of course.

would appreciate the help guys!

What you need is a RTX 4090. Otherwise you`ll not have the best gaming experience HLL can offer.

Your system is just too weak to run this game well. Gaming laptops are not good gaming PCs, regardless of specs.

Oh hell no, upgrade that!!

As you may have heard: To avoid ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics und blurry textures you need a great system that delivers the performance HLL need. A NVIDA RTX 4090 is highly recommended and the only thing you need.

Wrong what you need is an x3d CPU. HLL already runs at165 fps 1440p on a 3090

Uhhh no. I got a 5900x and run just fine. Arguably even better due to the multi-faceted use of my chip over the x3d. I can run multiple windows and run streaming services on the same PC while gaming and open 50 searches on some search engine without bogging down the system.

If you have win 10 or win 11 do this:
go to settings/system/display/graphics/
Browse desktop apps.
Go to the steamappsfolder/common/Hell Let Loose/
HLL .exe. Highlight and add this file.

Once on the list, highlight it and set it
for high performance. (never realtime)

Restart your computer.

Set your in game resolution to whatever
you monitor can handle.

Run the game with an FPS counter and
observe the performance.

This is not a magic wand. Your hardware
will vastly determine the outcome. But
it should help.

What this does is force Windows to dedicate all available resources to the chosen application when it is running.

can confirm, have a 5800x3d and my fps jumped from 80 to 144 fps without any drops at 1440p. (running it with a 3070ti)

Also to add to the original question: you can only do so much to optimize. This game eats CPU power for breakfast. I've tinkered with the game for ages too, but this didn't help in the slightest. The CPU upgrade was one of the best decisions ever. I am pretty sure that even a weaker GPU can be utilized more effectively with a x3d CPU.

1. PC Steam Hell Let Loose settings (improves fps, slightly reduces stuttering):

Start with general things first: install HLL to SSD, Steam overlay and controller disabled for HLL and also try to run Steam with low performance mode settings, try to run up to date Windows with no apps and unnecesary programs in the background (update the graphics card drivers too!) * also clean and repaste the laptop
Steam HLL properties -> in the launch options add this line:
-dx12 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES

2. Hell Let Loose in game optimal settings but visually still OK (improves fps, slightly reduces stuttering):

Audio quality: High
Fullscreen mode: Windowed Fullscreen
Vertical sync: Off
Brightness: 120% (depends on the screen, use what you want above 100%)
Texture quality: Low (you have only 4GB VRAM) with 6GB it can go with medium-high
Shadow quality: Low
Antialiasing-method: Community TAA
Antialiasing-quality: Off
FX quality: Low
View Distance: High
Foliage quality: Medium
Postprocess quality: Medium
SSAO: Off
Motion Blur: Off

3. Hell Let Loose .ini config file -> disable game analytics (possible stuttering fix and stability improver):

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\HLL\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini
bAnalyticsEnabled=True -> find this and change to False and save the file

4. Skip intro movies (faster game launch):

Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\HLL\Content\Movies
Delete all the files here

Set low latency mode in 3d settins to Ultra. Threading support on.

set these launch options in steam properties:

-dx12 -useallavailablecores -malloc=system

Your GPU can not deliver the best gaming experience for HLL. You`ll still have to deal with not rendering objects and blurry textures.
