Any way to force 16:9 aspect ratio?

I've got an ultrawide monitor, but I'd like to lower the resolution for better performance without it stretching the image.

as far as I know there are 3 options for how the x-axis behaves in the option menu. is none of those working for you?

If you have Nvidia card go to Nvidia Settings>Adjust Desktop Size & Position and select Aspect Ratio instead of Fullscreen.

Edit: you might also need to tick the override scaling mode set by games/apps

Well I couldn't figure it out, but forcing dx12 on launch gives me such a good performance boost that I don't even need to cut my resolution anymore.
