If you have the network connection error
Hello I am posting this as I just got done with a week long process talking to tech support at team17. If you have the network connection error upon launching the game and you have tried all of the “fixes” and still the same error, you are out of luck like me.
They claimed to me that everyone who has tried these fixes got it to work and that it is not an error with the game, these are both lies. My game worked great until the update and now it’s unplayable. This is bad business and if you are in the same spot I am in, leave a bad review stating the issue and request a refund. I will be try to contact steam support to try and get my money back. It is wrong for them to break the game for a group of players and blaming it on them. I hope this will get some traction so this issue can be fixed
-Cheers

My issue is after about 5 minutes on any server i DC. I have tried all the BS fixes i can find on these forums and like you, none of them work. It's been about 7-8 months since i have been able to play and again like you, it was after a patch that it went to ♥♥♥♥. With 2500 hours, i don't think a refund is in my future though. I'm just stuck with a broken game that i like, but can't play.

You talking about the "Lost connection to host" error? I reinstalled the game last week and after two days I started receiving this error. I'm in a email chain 14 emails between the two of us deep with Team17 support and have tried every suggestion they have provided, the issues continues to persist. Right now, I finished running MemTest86 due to some errors related to my memory in a DxDiag file. Errors were returned, but they aren't new. I don't understand how this is going to be related to what seems to be a network issue that arose days after being able to play with no issue.

I'm now going to attempt a clean GPU driver installation, as recommended by Team17 support.

UPDATE!!!!

After all the measures I had taken under Team17 support advice, I decided to try playing on WiFi on a whim. The game works now. No "Lost connection to host." I hope this information helps you.

I havent been able to play this game in months because it is stuck on loading the map until it says lost connection to host.
This sucks man, game is bricked in my library after like 140 hours of game time and steam wont refund it even though its unplayable.
This is honestly just ridiculous and it looks like a lot of people have this problem.
Try to start the game with hotspot of your Smartphone or try using WIFI if you are on a wired connection. I heard about this problem years ago...and they fixed it this way. Just run one game over hotspot from your smartphone....after this you can returen to your wired connection.

Maybe some more clues but i own HLL on steam and i have it through the xbox game pass, both copies of the game will give me the same error at the beginning of the game. Mine was to launch Steam as administrator, it worked, and after that I was able to launch steam like I always did, withtout the admin stuff and the game still worked so it's just for the first launch

Launching Steam or the game itself as an Administrator will work. I'd suspect it's Easy Anti Cheat not having firewall permissions crashing the game.

Tried this?

Running steam as admin and with hotspot didn't fix this issue for me. Their game is just broken. I have tried over 20 different "solutions" none have worked. If you think "well, have you tried this?", I have already tried it. Doesn't work.
Also I reached out to support going into detail of every single step I tried and how I need stuff not related to their stuff on their support page because I've done all that and they just sent me an automated response of just trying the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steps on their web page. These devs don't give a ♥♥♥♥.

They're called solutions because they work for other people they just aren't the right fix for you. Getting into a nihilistic frame of mind about it not working yet is only going to emotionally charge your own feelings of inadequacy to fix your particular issue. Whenever I'm trying to troubleshoot something I often have to take a step back and consider other factors before putting blame on what I think it might be, in this case the developer. I haven't seen anyone recommend verifying game files so I'd try that next if you haven't already and also changing launch options to the game if they aren't already set. If you've already tried all of that I'd recommend turning off your antivirus and enabling windows defender. Then run the game and select any popup allow windows just to make sure it isn't easy anti cheat that's messing with the game loading.

Team 17 are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless. They're mobile app game makers, not actual PC game makers (hence why all the bugs from release are still present)

Everything they touch is garbage.

i tried everything, i tried to play on a different wifi, mobile hotspot, VPN, port fowarding, xbox game pass, double NAT, restarting router, network reset, clearing DNS, running steam and HLL as an administrator, disabling anti virus, allowing HLL through firewall, reinstalling, verifying integrity, doing a Windows Clean Boot, spamming the ok button for some time hoping for the EULA will show up, one would probably work for you but nothing worked for me. I hope team 17 will fix this soon, its been 10 months.
