But at the same time, they mentioned the "Win 10 store", which i would think, means its coming to Game Pass. Meaning an almost infinite amount of players that may want a more casual experience
we (i believe most) veteran HLL players have fought long and hard for a game like this as it is now (bugs/slow devs not withstanding) , and it seems like the new devs are listening to a really really vocal minority (ie. who asked for hand signals/non-mic communication? who asked for cleaning up of animations? who asked for new game modes? )
i believe that this game is about to lose its identity. and it was a good ride while it lasted. still my favorite game of the last 10 years or so.
I wouldn't want HLL to diverge from what makes it unique compared to BF or CoD either, and I think the developers are well aware of it after watching the full video. Warfare is always going to be the foundation of the game, but that doesn't mean the game shouldn't have offensive mode or this new skirmish mode. Perhaps in preparation of the campaign.
This just goes to show some people never get satisfied. They tell you they want QoL and when devs say QoL plus something more, then they say do not want something more, and when devs delay the British faction into U14 then they say the game lacks new content and when British will be released, we are back to square one with complaints over QoL.
smaller skirmishes, as they said is an alternative to games that tend to last over an hour, which i do like, but it also opens updifferent types of battles, like danzig.
this also opens opportunities for other factions like fighting against japan, which doesnt have an arsenal that can match the US, especially tank wise, or something really different like the italian invasion greece or the german invasion of crete, maybe even narvik or the spanish civil war
Putting this quote in perspective, and referring to what others have said, sadly large corporations tend to focus on large market segments, and that of course is your average player. One should seek pride in catering to a niche segment.
By designing everything for this fictional "average player" you get average game design.
Watered down versions that do not excel in anything.
I can understand the reasoning why T17/BM is doing this but this will cannibalize the player-base in my opinion. There is literally no single longterm HLL player that is requesting smaller maps. Topics like smaller maps hardly get mentioned on these steam forums also.
People that want to play "Hop in for 15 minutes" are not the type of people that play HLL.
HLL, is more akin to a board game, it is something you prepare and take your time for.
If you think this game will become like other fast paced twitch friendly games then I don't think you really understand HLL's pacing or style. Even with smaller maps it changes literally nothing about the gameplay.
This is self-inflicted anxiety. How about letting one update happen to see if it's worth going full "world is ending" mode?
