The British and Australian factions are supposedly next up later this year, or if we're unlucky next year, which could imply Japan as a faction is 1-2 years away. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pacific front also become a paid DLC.

Cant say that I don't want to get my hands on an SMLE, now there's a sound I would love to seem them capture. 303 British has a distinct snap to its report. Kinda like the pistol range when people are shooting 44s etc then someone breaks out their 357 magnum, you just know its a 357 magnum : )

I think the Japanese maps would also require creating the United States Marine Corps as a new faction. They can at least recycle a lot of assets from the Army but they're still gonna need some brand new guns and vehicles.

Its not needed at all as faction since this game mixes uniforms in different outfits inside game anyway. Just needs different squad composition. Marines loved their Bars, so maybe have 2 of them in squad, like many had. Just make game more asymmetrical to make it again interesting.

There are a few reasons why the Marines should be different. They would be wearing a lot of tropical gear and Marine Raiders would be extensively using Frogskin camos. For equipment, they wouldn't just be using BARs but they also would still have a lot of M1903 and M1917 bolt-actions in their arsenals. For sub-machine guns, they also had a lot of older Tommy guns like the M1928 in widespread use, along with the M50 Reising. The Japanese asymmetry would still be there from all the knee-mortars, booby-traps, very few sub-machine guns and not having any semi-automatic rifles. Even in machine guns, they'd be using stuff comparable to the BAR. This isn't even going to them having very little anti-tank gear. Of course, they should suffer less from suppression and outposts/garrisons should be less visible.
