Hell Let Loose

Hell Let Loose

Creating a Server for Seasoned players.
Hello, I have experienced that various servers that I come across do want to have great matches, and people with experience, but they fall short out of fear that there wont be enough players if they have to remove players from the server who do not meet the requirements:

Such as a working microphone, and speaking actively.
Commanding or playing officer properly (Biased views will always exist)
Experience (Level, Time Played)

And I get that there are a lot of players and most of the seasoned players have a server they prefere but even those servers leave a bad taste in many seasoned players mouths. We should definitely have room for new players, thats also why many clans have multiple servers, but it seems that regardless of them having rules and writing experienced only, there are many new players on the servers that should have been for seasoned players only. And very little enforcement.

Most of the time the servers are left with no supervision, such as foreign speaking players who dont know english, although the server is english only. Or rogue people who without knowing it grief, or intentially grief.

I'm ready to spend money on trying to make a seasoned server to enforce the rules, so that those with experience can login, have two or three great games, logoff and come back knowing when they have free time and feel like playing hell let loose they have a place to get some good matches.

The server rules would be:

English Only (Voice)

Officer roles, and commander must actively talk, make call outs, encourage the team to do as told, such as building notes, or report the player.

As for the level requirements, which is a tricky situation a lot of seasoned players do not prefer the commander role so setting it too high could result in no commanders being available, and if its too low you get someone who is not very experienced. Same could be said about the officer roles, and pretty much all roles.

The commander role is crucial so I would probably say that someone at level 70+ would have experience enough to lead well.

Officer roles are more about setting outposts, rallying your group, taking orders, any grunt can do that. so I wouldn't know if a requirement should be set for that.

Sniper roles are also very crucial or recon, that play a key role is denying the enemy artillery support, or lock down supply routes, taking down nodes, and other miscellaneous things. So that would require a lot of map awareness, and experience, it would be right up there with the commander role of not higher, 70+

Tank roles (My biased) view is that tank support is great, but if you have teams that know how to use their anti tank guns it wouldn't make or break a game if your team have bad tank crews, but then again I have seen some very good tank commanders that couldn't be touched easily. Guess it comes down to wether or not someone is solo tanking, two man, or have a full crew. Could impose a rule that all tank teams must have a full crew to use them, or set it relatively low as a level requirement.

Let me know what you think.
Server would be called, D2 - Damned Defiants, if it will allow me, most games see that name as foul, or profanity or not allowed.

Setting up a server incl. the rules is easy albeit costly - the hard part is to: 1) Seed it and 2) Admin it with active admins. You need plans for that because it does not solve itself. I wish you good luck on your project <3

Well Hosting a server does not seem that expensive, so overall should it fail its not that much of a waste of money. The problem will be as you say seeding, as for the admin I am pretty much online all the time, aside from the 8-9 hours of sleep I get, I do homebased work.

Been looking at server hosting sites and there are a couple addons, but not sure if they are necessary been reading that some servers run default, others added a little more, etc. Confusing stuff. GTX Gaming btw.

And thanks.

If you end up getting it started up and are looking for admins, I've got experience. Admittedly, I have my reservations that such a server would get enough of a foothold to be sustainable but I'd be willing to see it through regardless, this game SHINES when people actually communicate properly.
Level isn't indicative of capability; just amount of time played. Set a minimum level for your server and leave it at that. No need to set different levels for different roles. You'll end up with 5 level 50's in a squad and unable to become an officer (for example) because their level 90 bailed from the role.

Can you actually set a level requirement to enter the server?

Its indivative of map awareness, and knowledge about how things are used to be done, such as waiting in the transport truck for everyone to spawn in. Not stealing the supply truck but let the commander have it, and other small things that can easily make games horrid.

It's not necessarily even that. I've met many clueless high level players.
I have a fix for this. This is what worked for me.
Still as it says i am connected to VOIP it still didnt seem to work.
So what i did was that i created a discord server, only for myself, so that the mic ALLWAYS is on, it kind of triggers the mic so that it allways is in use.
Then, you launch HLL and try to check your mic. It should then work and you should hear yourelf through the test!
I would love to play on a sever with Roovka as admin , just imagine the drama lol.

As far as I'm concerned, any potential beef I have with anyone on this forum should never be brought ingame for any reason.

I've had 2 people from here break this resulting in one following me around blocking doorways and just spouting off nonstop in local chat and I've had one just repeatedly TK me. I have played with 3 others that resulted in fun solid matches with jovial comms.

People think I act the same way I do here as I do ingame and personally I think that's quite hilarious.

I was only joking Roo. I would never play this game again.

True, but the chances are better with high level players only.
