Nvidia 5080 causing "fatal error" crash?

Camped out for a 5080 and am now getting "fatal error" crashes. First time I booted everything was fine, but the "boot" LED light on my motherboard popped up the second time and continued with a 50/50 rate of whether my system would boot up properly. or get stuck with the "boot" LED light. I had to go into the BIOS and set my PCIe slot to "Gen 4" from "auto" and now everything is booting up properly 100% of the time.

I stress tested my system for stability issues once I was for sure I could boot properly and everything is stable. I am not having this issue with any other game. I am fairly certain it is not a problem with my system. In Hell Let Loos sometimes I can play for 30 minutes without the error. Sometimes I get the error before I get to the main menu. I get this error every time though.

Is this something that will be fixed with a drivers update in the future or am I missing something? Is the fact that my BIOS has locked the PCie slot as "Gen 4" causing the issue?

I just want to know if this sounds like something that is happening on my system or if this is an issue with the game?

Most likely you have a brand new card with brand new drivers and it's having teething problems.

That's what I was thinking, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious.

Check nvidia forums. Lots of complaints from people having issues after installing latest drivers

simple test to check your driver. run valley bench mark on ultra for a few mins to and hour, and see if you still have the same issue,if not its the game .

Latest drivers, no crashes so far. Some people have found better results with the previous set. Try those and let us know.

new nvidia drivers are awful. i've noticed a drop in performance for every game i play, including crashes

Thanks OP for being our beta tester 😀 I doubt the PCIe slot being set to gen 4 was the issue (or Nvidia is going to have a lot of problems this generation). You might be in for a few more weeks of instability while the Nvidia software matures. I avoid the latest hardware at launch to avoid running into problems like these.

The 5000 series GPU's are horrible. Why would you do that? Do you not research beforehand? You bought it just because it's new? Seriously, bud. You can do better. Be better.

I had the same thing yesterday on my 5080.

Same here HLL crashes all the time with fatal error, another similar crash in "warno". However other titles work quite well, very high frame rates with cyberpunk.
