Is Auto Rifleman FG42 worth it?
The FG42 is honestly my favorite gun ever, even compared against modern arms, and I would love to get it. However this grind is just getting to me. I mean I've been stuck on level 3 trying to get to 4 for months. Any tips on this matter?

Anyway I'm curious what the opinion is of people who have it. Sniper FG42 opinions welcome too but please make the distinction of which one you are talking about!

Bulid nodes as engineer, then switch to automatic rifleman. You will get a lot of extra points for that.

Also try to stay alive - you will get 20 points for attacking or defending every minute. It depends on territory on which you are.

The FG42 itself is cool - low recoil, cool firing sound, but not a lot of ammo. One of the few classes, which actually can need the ammo boxes.

This version of FG42 comes with full auto only and a serious recoil. Yes it is fun, yes it is hard to control but imo it really doesn´t give you that much over the SMG - for me at least - I can´t exploit the added distance for this weapon over the SMG, mainly because of the recoil. I would call it a specialist weapon. I also find it is way harder to one-tap rounds with the FG42 than the STG.

I thought that got patched?

sniper FG is good, Automatic rifleman not
In my experience, the recoil is really bad, but if your shots hit, it feels great.
General usage I would say the STG is better because its a lot more reliable and flexible, but if I know the enemies are going to be fighting at closer ranges most of the time, I'll probably switch over to the FG42.

Not an SMG, even though the game treats it like one
I like mine, it is a fun gun to have (Auto Rifleman version). For everything else but close range firing more than once is a waste of ammo. First shot accuracy is quite good, though, also at greater ranges.
Biggest downside is the low amount of ammo it comes with. 5 mags with 20 rounds each are a decent amount of ammo to carry around in real life, but in HLL this calls for discipline and aimed shots. If you prefer having some more ammo on you the STG44 might be the better overall choice.
