Vivox VOIP Outages Suck

The stability of Vivox VOIP is seriously impacting the game. These Vivox server/API outages are unacceptable so Team17 should consider a different 3rd party solution.

the in-game voice is down very often. not usually totally, but one or two of either squad, command and local chat. sometimes you can even hear the enemy chat channels which isn't exactly ideal.

Vivox is notoriously terrible but it's usually used because it's a Unity product that can be thrown into the mix for almost no costs. As a result it will most likely never be fixed or replaced unless somebody convinces the developers with economic incentives.

If you want stable VoIP then it's probably better to use server specific Discord channels or something similar if possible.

Caelib my question was genuine and I understand how on these forums that can be misunderstood sometimes. I actually got off my lazy butt and googled it.

And yes, you are right about how the voip is affecting the game. This game is reliant on communication and people want more and here we are with our voip going down on us constantly. It discourages people from chatting.

It seems to have become a major problem recently, but there has always been people complaining about it. But it's getting worse rather then better.

A bug that has only existed since 2019 I'm sure its on the roadmap.

now that they've made a fortune selling this game, one'd imagine they could afford to switch to maybe a more reliable way of doing VoIP
