K98 needs a buff
Just feels a bit unfair. The Americans get the m1 garand, semi auto with an 8 round mag where the germans get the k98, bolt action with a 5 round mag. People say the k98 has better range but your not engaging people are 300+ metres with iron sights so that doesnt matter. Imo i think the k98 needs a faster bolt cycling to increase it fire rate.

You can literally pick guys off at 200+ yards all day with ease and if you stick with your squad you have the fastest MG in the game and a full squad full of sub machine guns to help with close range.
I would give anything for the US to have the Springfield rifle over the m1.

come on bro you cant be genuine? The m1 is accurate enough at 200yards and it hardly matters cause u can just do easy follow up shots.

You can do this with any weapon in HLL. There isn't a single thing that the K98 does better than other rifles.
The k98 also isn't any more accurate than any other weapon. Its difference is ONLY in how its sights appear, purely cosmetic.

Somebody correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure the K98 has the highest 1 shot potential in the game due to the fact that it will ignore arm hitboxes if it would pass through into the torso. It nets kills where the enemy would have walked off any other rifle

You are incorrect.
There is no such thing as "arm damage" values in HLL. Here is how the hitboxes in HLL look like: https://i.imgur.com/NmS2gRZ.jpg
Weapons have incredibly simplistic damage values too. When it comes to rifles in HLL (K98, M1 Garand, G43, SVT), they ALL do the same damage, which is one-hit-down up to 200m to anywhere on the body indicated in green (from that link)

You're right. The k98 can 1 shot kill at range better than any gun.
The full auto babies will argue and cry all day about it just because they suck with it and have no idea how to play.
I don't bother even trying to point out things to them about how to use it anymore. They want to play cod but accidentally bought this game.

Ah, i must be misremembering and thinking of some other games mechanics. Thanks for the info

I've been told that im incorrect about how i thought the rifle worked and can't find anything to support my claim so I can only offer anecdotal evidence. I personally do much better when using bolt actions in this game than i do with semi automatic rifles and it feels like they hit MUCH harder, especially past 100-150 meters. I'm unsure if thats due to me compensating for having a slower weapon and playing differently or if it's due to the rifles having some kind of increased performance.

Objectively wrong. K98 one-hit downs up to 200m, which is the same the Garand, G43, SVT. Given the inherent inferior traits of the K98, the K98 is objectively the worst 'rifle' type weapon in HLL.

You clearly have no idea how "cod-like" HLLs gunplay is, or don't want to accept it being such. It's more simplistic than Call of Duty.

I, as well as others of the community have tested damage values for HLL. There is nothing anecdotal about how HLLs weapons work, which is as follows:

Damage dealt with any particular weapon in HLL is based on what "type" of weapon it is classified as. In HLL, those types are:
"Rifles" (M1 Garand, G43, K98, other bolt actions, other semi-auto rifles)
"Automatic Rifles" (STG, BAR, FG42)
"SMGs" (MP40, Thompson)
"MGs"
"Pistols"
Weapons that are coming later in development will likely also be classified under one of these already existing types

Current OHDs (one-hit-downs) for the weapons
"Rifles" - 200m
"Automatic Rifles" - 100m
The M1A1 Carbine is the slight exception, it OHDs up to 50m.
Beyond those ranges, you will need an extra round to hit the body of a target.
"SMGs" - 2 body hits up to 75m , or 3 hits if all past 75m distance.

Steam UI is bugging and wont let me quote in the reply, apologies. Thank you Chum. This is very useful information that I wasn't aware of.

No problem.
Most people don't know this about HLLs weapons, you are already more knowledgeable than 99% of its players!
