other player with high pings even increase that for the whole server, no matter your distance to the servers location (syncron issue ;) 100 players is quite alot and that needs time too)
at 100ms the game is still fine to play, at 150 youll notice some issues, but some people that have no server park near their homes (s africa and sea as example) play with even higher pings well enough.
this is not a reaction shooter, its a slow paced strategie game. and if you have more then this issue there is probably something else wrong with your gaming setup.
I strongly disagree. This game is very much a reaction shooter game where low fps is a winner if you wanna hit something. Though you're correct that this also is a strategical game, but you don't survive for long if your computer or internet connection is slow/has bad resources with the current game state (read: the way this game is programmed).
For the time being, I experience huge latency/low ping where my reaction time can be compared to being drunk. I spot an enemy, react and then approx. one second later 'my soldier' reacts. But then the enemy is gone or already have killed me.
This game is poorly optimized compared to other fps games like e.g. Warthunder, which supports even very old potato pc's. For example I once played Warthunder on a cheap office pc without a gaming graphic card and with low res settings. It worked, no it wasn't optimal at all, but yet it was playable and I played for years until the pc burned down.
I wouldn't dare playing HLL on a potato pc or with a slow internet connection.
you have a weapon and shoot opponents, so it MUST be a shooter!
wrong, the weapon is a tool to defend or clear your way, while doing your actual job, enforcing the strategie of your commanding team!
you can even reach certain goals without shooting, and sometimes its advised to do so.
if you shoot in reaction = fast and suprised, then you have not paid attention to your surrounding. an aware player knows, he doesnt react, thats why you play as squad, to support another.
and you are not supposed to survive or better it has no value. strategie does not require one individual to survive, your a team, work as such.
also the statement "low fps is a winner" ??? are you shure?
usualy high fps is the winner because your framerate displayes all your movements in much more pictures.
and this brings us to the rection time thingly....
this is a pretty big game with many players in first person, that is coded on a engine well known for instability and performance issues!
what you describes is more a syncronization issue, probably caused by more high ping players on the server and your connection of course.
warthunder is in absolutly no way comparable to HLL and its also not an fps (first person shooter).
why not compare elderscrolls online with this?
at last, i play on a so called potato ;) 7years old, just above min requirements and i do well in most situations, depending on my personal performance of the day.
so ill stick with my statement, this is NOT a shooter, its a teambased strategie game in first person!!
but it is realy on the edge performance wise, considering the game engine ;)
however, the issue OP has is, that he belives the ping is the reason this is not playable, while i said, it is for sure, but youll have to adapt.
You're going off-topic and I don't know if you are just trying to farm the Jesters for the Steam points by talking nonsense or you actually believe what you are saying is correct.
You should write a letter to the devs/publisher and tell them their game is not an FPS game. I wonder what kind of answer you will get ...
i wasnt "off topic", that was just a notice that the "ping" issue is not sooo important considering what OP states!
read the whole thing and dont nitpick only one term or sentense.
if you belive all advertising, youre a fool ;)
of course they use terms to bait people to buy their product (well not realy theirs, right? XD). and if you play this game and still think you can approach this with a "shooter mentality"... well, thats why the matches are often so bad ;)
Ping is important in multiplayer games. Especially in FPS games.
If this game is not an FPS game, then what is it? RTS? MOBA?
