Checking task manager I can set affinity but it does not say which cores are physical and not.
The exact process for identifying which cores are physical and which are logical can depend on your specific CPU. Generally, every second core is a logical core. For example, if you have an 8-core, 16-thread CPU, cores 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 would be physical cores, while cores 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 would be logical cores
does this not effect your other games? I tried to set it only for HLL but doesnt let me
setting steam to use only Physical Cores WILL affect every other steam game too, yeah.
I think HLL anticheat prevents you from doing such things to the game, thus I guess why OP suggest to do it to steam.
Thank you, will try this!
!!!!
There is no such things as "physical cores AND logical cores" when you consider affinities from windows: cores you see are all logical. But doing what you describe prevents the OS scheduler from running 2 tasks on 2 logical cores that are on the same physical core (let"s call them "siblings" if you want). In short, you try to disable SMT from the OS.
