New Guinea would be intense terrain. Battle of Buna, Battle of Milne Bay, Shaggy Ridge, etc.
Would also mean adding Aussie troops, with the coolest hats in WW2.
The Pacific theater was something Black Matter stated they'd "hope" to get to, that was before the Team17 buyout and years ago. In fact, with the implementation of the flamethrower the community theorized HLL would pivot to the Pacific.
In reality the amount of asset creation, systems reworks such as tunnels and watercraft, etc would put it out of the scope the game in its current state.
Not to mention the devs never bothered to code or animate your basic soldier learning how to swim. You can't even get to unstuck vehicles, hell they even made vehicles phase through most vegetation and structures just so they wouldn't have to.
The game is built on shoddy spaghetti code with the most advanced system being armor values, which are still inaccurate and inconsistent. Hit registration is still an issue years later with you seemingly being behind cover just to get one tapped on the dome.
They have much more Quality-of-Life work to do before adding this. If we were to get it with the current systems in place, it would be a massive letdown.
it's coming
You've seen how the British released and how long it took them to become playable.
All maps that have been released by T17 are either really poorly designed or are poorly optimized.
Different games entirely so better is subjective.
but ya i agree
