Fix the STG 44
The STG is currently best used as a semi auto rifle instead of a assault rifle. WTF You cannot hit a single thing while auto firing !!!!

The mp 40 is a better assault rifle than the STG.

STG was developed with rough machinery and was lower quality overall than MP-40 and its variants. MP-40 was too expensive to mass-produce so they came up with STG. Consequences of this: the rifle literally broke down if you fired in full-auto too much, so if was literally advised to shoot it only in semi-auto to make it last longer. So technically, it is a historically correct way to fire this particular rifle, even if you personally dont like it

Following on from what this user has said, I agree that it is better used as a semi-auto in this game, pretty sure it also does more damage too, especially at range. I can take down an enemy in 3-4 hits at 100m+ with an mp40, but with the stg44 it takes only 1-2, and at very close quarters it can one shot people. So the STG44 is a good all rounder in my opinion if used correctly.

Yep, agree with that. It all comes to *learning* the weapon and not trying to use it like you would use *another* weapons. All of them require different approach. If you treat STG like Gewehr-43 with full-auto capabilities for when you need to spray a house - you will love it

I am married to the German level 9 Assault class.

Taken from wikipedia :

The StG 44 was the first successful assault rifle, with features including an intermediate cartridge, controllable automatic fire, a more compact design than a battle rifle with a higher rate of fire, and being designed primarily for hitting targets within a few hundred metres.[5] Other rifles at the time were designed to hit targets of over a thousand meters, but this was found to be in excess of the range in which most enemy engagements actually took place.

A late-war U.S. assessment derided the StG 44 as "mediocre", "bulky", and "unhandy", declaring it incapable of sustained automatic fire and prone to jamming, though the report accepted that its accuracy was "excellent for a weapon of its type"

Good luck tapping on multiple hostiles in front of you.

No weapon of that calibre is accurate when fired on auto, auto is meant to keep the enemies head down, not to be accurate. Stop believing what you see in movies.

The mp 40 is accurate at auto. I literally can headshot multiple enemies just holding the trigger.

Yeah. I also bet that in real life that was accurate. Doesnt make sense a assault rifle to be bad in auto mode. Because assaulting happens in close quarters.

That is not at all true lol where did you find such absurd information?

I'm remembering it being the other way around, the StG44 was complicated to manufacture and as a result only certain units were equipped with it. That said I don't find anything wrong with it in the game besides the lack of a semiautomatic switch but tapping works just fine. If you spray full auto.... well good luck with that and finding ammo.

still waiting for the *skill issue* crowd XD

STG is fine whether semi auto bursts or full auto, how about they give actual fire select to FG42 (due to the RPM being so high) so people would actually feel the need to pick it over the STG

Compared to an MP40 it was much more complicated to make, considering you had to have selective fire components along with it being hammer fired (the trigger pack for an STG44 is really quite complicated for what it is) along with a finely machined bolt, bolt carrier, gas system, and locking surface as well.
Distribution of the MP/STG44 is a little tricky to track down but units that were usually in the s@&t the most got shipments of STG44s and this varied from FJ, Heer, and SS divisions but it was not an "elite unit" specific weapon. It was supposed to replace all the MP40s, and Kar98ks in the military but well yeah we know how that worked out lol Oddly enough the biggest hindrance to the STG44 was that ammo was a real pain in the a$$ to keep available. It's not uncommon to read accounts of Germans having plenty of STG44s but only enough ammo for 1/4 that or Allies finding warehouses full of STG44s and no ammo.
