Hey DesertElephant9,

Sorry to see you're having some issues with an EAC error in Hell Let Loose.

Can you please make sure that the following exceptions are added to any anti-virus/firewall or Windows Defender software you may be using:
  • HLL.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
  • HLL_BugReportUploader.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
  • HLL-Win64-Shipping.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\HLL\Binaries\Win64
  • EasyAntiCheat.exe - Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat
  • EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe - Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\EasyAntiCheat
  • Launch_HLL.exe - Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
To do this, please press the Windows key + I to open your Windows Settings. Then:
  1. Go to 'Privacy & Security' and select 'Windows Security'
  2. In Windows Security, click on 'Virus & Threat Protection'
  3. Under 'Virus & Threat Protection Settings' click on 'Manage Settings' under 'Virus & Threat Protection'
  4. Scroll down to the 'Exclusions' section and click on 'Add or remove exclusions'
  5. Click on 'Add an exclusion' and choose the type of exclusion you want to add (File, Folder, File Type, or Process)
  6. Choose 'File' and then 'Browse' and select the file you want to exclude
  7. Add the above files suggested and then confirm your selection - these will now be added to your Exceptions
Following this, can you please try running Steam and the game as Admin?

To run Steam as an administrator:
  1. Navigate to your Steam install folder (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam)
  2. Right-click the Steam executable
  3. Follow the above steps to set it to Run as Administrator
  4. Then restart Steam
Please then retest the game and see if the issue persists.

To run HLL as an administrator:
  1. Right-click the game in your Steam Library
  2. Go to Properties then the Installed Files tab
  3. Click Browse
  4. Locate the game executable (the application)
  5. Right-click it and go to Properties
  6. Click the Compatibility tab
  7. Check the Run this program as an administrator box
Please can you then retest the game?

Please do get back to us and let us know how you get on!

I have completed the first step with no luck however I have set Steam to run as administrator and on the restart I received a notification saying that Steam was running in compatibility mode. I read the guide linked and found in the proprieties that nothing was ticked for steam to run in compatibility mode.

I changed the the HLL.exe file to run as admin and received this error message with steam running in compatibility mode. couldn't start: steam/steamapps/common/Hell Let Loose/HLL/Binaries/Win64/HLL-Win64-Test.exe" HLL CreateProcess() returned 2. A quick glance suggests it's a hardware issue. My specs are:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
RAM: 16.0 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

I'm unsure what process I used to reinstall Windows, it was about 2 years ago when I did this (I haven't been able to play HLL for about 2.5 years). I am using Windows 10

Hey DesertElephant9,

Thanks for your reply!

I've had a look through and it looks like your graphics drivers are out of date, could you please download and install the latest drivers for your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER card?

To do this please go to the NVIDIA web page here[www.nvidia.com] and follow the instructions.

I can also see that you're receiving some LiveKernelEvents with error code 144 - this is often indicative of an issue with graphics drivers so if you find that following the above update, the issue persists, can you please perform a clean install of your graphics drivers? For steps on how to do this, please see the following article:
Once this has been completed, please reboot your PC and retest the game.

Get back to us when you can and let us know how you get on with these steps :)

The guide at https://team17.helpshift.com/hc/en/3-team17/faq/98-using-ddu-to-perform-a-clean-install-of-graphics-drivers/ is not corresponding.

Next you will click the Windows icon in the bottom-left of your screen and whilst holding your SHIFT key, click Restart - let go of the SHIFT key after you get the "Please wait" message

I do not have this option

Hey DesertElephant9,

Thanks for your reply.

All Windows PC's have the restart button, click the Windows button and then go to the power icon on the right side.
Here you will find the shutdown, restart and update options.

Please then follow the steps in the sentence above to continue the steps for DDU.

Get back to us when you can!
