Anyone Else Mainly Use Kar98?
Despite all the criticisms of it's reload time and allegedly being glitched, I love this gun.

Unlike autos/semis, it makes you feel like a kill is more earned since there's no spray and pray involved.

It also helps you a lot with improving your aiming skills.

yes, the Kar98 is enjoyable to shoot, and has its moments where i'd rather have it than any other gun i've used in-game.

your opinions on why it's fun probably won't appeal to most people (hell, i feel like it's harder to get kills with the MP40 than with the Kar98), but they're still reasons to enjoy it i guess.

the main reason i use it boils down to not having any decent alternative for most classes who're stuck with a Kar98. in my experience, it's the only reliable German weapon (outside of the MG42 and the STG44) for mid-to-long range engagements. it's certainly the most accurate of its counterparts and i dont see any issues with the way it shoots (except perhaps the velocity).

trying to get kills at even 60 - 80 meters with an MP40 is impossible to me, and i don't like the semi-autos like the G43 and the M1 Carbine, so it's a no-brainer. it has reliably gotten me out of situations i wouldn't have survived even with a Garand; you just get used to shooting it and it starts to click.

also, as far as AT goes, it's the kit that gets the Pak, so that's an easy choice!

Another reason to get proficient with a bolt action is who knows one day we might see early-War maps without semis/autos and mainly bolt actions on offer.

And it's not just about the aiming. Situational awareness and timing of when to shoot when you're up against 2/3 enemies with autos can be a life or death decision.

i don't know about that, but if they do end up including all of the possible theaters, with the Commonwealth Forces and Imperial Japanese Army as well as the Eastern Front, then there will be far more bolt actions out and about. I'm sure the Red Army is going to be Mosin central, and SVTs/PPsh will probably be as rare as the semis and autos for the Germans. Lots of bolts for the other two as well, though it's unclear if they'll actually make it in-game.

Not sure I'd like to see a Pacific Theater - jungle warfare would be very incoherent/chaotic and imagine the FPS hit with all that foliage.

Eastern Front? Bring it on.

Yeah, I can't wait for the Eastern Front, it's going to be awesome! :D

I wish there was some rough ETA, but it's just sitting there on the roadmap all antagonistically.

It's years away. That's my guess. There's still so much foundation work that needs doing before we get to other fronts.

My biggest gripe at the moment is inf vs inf is still too kill/die/respawn loopy because this ballistics model is too arcady. In general it should be quite a bit harder to shoot targets.

Its a pile of junk and the main reason most people dont want to play for the Germans. I'm glad you're getting some enjoyment out of it but its creating issues with team numbers where most people will go US usually leaving Axis with a few less players. It is so unbalanced its insane and mind boggling that they added it to the game.

A us soldier can shoot off 5 - 6 rounds before you load up your second. Its INSANE that they have sort of imbalance. The sad part is that you have to use this pile of junk as Support or Engineer which means no one wants to play those roles as Germans / Axis. They have a semi auto gun on the German side that works the same as the m1 the US soldiers riflemen use so I dont see why they this junk gun on the Axis side.

Some people will say OH but the Kar is far superior at long range, well I dont agree with that, it sucks at close and long range if you ask me. US FTW all the time

The Americans can fire 385969 rounds in the time it takes for you to load your 2nd shot - but if you landed that first shot then you won and killed them.

The game revolves around positioning and picking your fights when you have the initiative. If you don't know how to do that then then your in for a bad time.

My main issue with the Kar is its buggyness and inconsistency, bit when it works it works.

The way the Kar is supposed balanced is that the STG and MG are supposed to be better due to their higher RoF, and then the German tanks are supposed to be superior. Which is not the case right now.

People keep blaming the Kar for the Germans getting dunked on when the map had 4 objectives that favoured the Americans and the Tiger got stuck so there were 4 Sherman's attacking all game long...

I friggin love the K98. It's bad at short range but medium to long range it's like having a sniper rifle.
Barkmann Aug 14, 2020 @ 4:36am
Yes, you’ve got to stay calm and land that first shot with the K98; although when used at long to medium distance (when accuracy is key) it is beautiful to shoot, although at close range it is ineffective against the greater fire-power of automatic rifles and machine guns.

Yeah the MP40 is trash in this. Recoil is way to high.
With_Teeth Aug 14, 2020 @ 9:51pm
Apart from the few times i've played sniper, my highest-kill games have all been with the K98. it forces me to actually aim and hit my shots rather than just panic fire like you can with the M1 or other semi/full autos.

(though partly its about getting into good positions to get a lot of kills... I probably would have had as many/more kills if I had the Garand in those same matches)
