The BREN however, is not, nor was it ever intended to be used without a bipod, in fact, it's a masterfully well designed feature of the gun. I have a Bren MkII and it's EXCELLENT in every way. There is a reason the BAR was phased out after Korea and the BREN continued among front line troops into the 90s. It's an absolute superb weapon.
As the ww2 training videos stated, "The Bren is capable of suppressive fire, but unlike other LMGs, the BREN was designed to KILL. If you can see your target, then with the BREN, you can and should KILL your target. Supress when needed, but killing the enemy is the goal."
And the gun was extremely good at it's role.
Also the idea you could shoot the bren gun the way you would shoot a rife is just...what in the world,I mean yes...you can if you are a VERY strong man,but it sure as hell was not meant to be fired like that or used as such.
And yes you could hip fire it...but you sure as hell needed to brace it first.
