P14 Enfield should not be the default rifle for UK faction
The pattern 14 was never used by British frontline troops in the European theatre of WW2. It was only ever mass issued to the home guard because all of the SMLEs and No. 4 rifles were given to frontline units. AFAIK I can find no examples of P14 sniper rifles used by British snipers in WW2, as they were issued the No. 4 Mk. I (T) prior to D-Day.

This is equivalent to making the default US rifle the P17 Enfield or making the default German weapon the VK-98.

Yeah, this has kinda pissed me off too. Completely daft choice, for no reason that I can think of outside being able to match the number of options available per class to the other factions. Just give us our damned No4s for gods sake

this game is moving away from it roots and getting more stupid with every update..

And you can't even use the bipod on the the Bren Gun, the actual standard issue machine gun of the British forces.

Same with the Boys AT rifle, no deployable bipod. And the officer class getting the Lanchester as default over the STEN.

I can sort of see why they did that with the machinegunner class at least. The automatic rifleman has the bren, and the lewis gun more fits the role of the mg class.

Not being able to use the bipod is utter nonsense though

If this is correct, please fix accordingly, let's not turn this game into battlefield where everyone is running around with prototypes that never hit mass production...

I think its clear these Devs unlike the Black Matter devs have actually never watched a WW2 documentary in their lives....are these devs perhaps ex DICE devs...?
VonScheer May 25, 2023 @ 4:02am
Thank you for bringing this fact up, I deleted the game and did not waist time on a new update. There is no irony here really, I deleted the game. What the hell, P14 as standard rifle, even CoD did it better back in 2000s.

You are aware that this content was completely developed and planned by Black Matter, right? The new devs just released what had already been done before they took over. Now not addressing these things is a completely different story, but let's hope the live up to their promises and will work on period accuracy starting later this year.

I'm getting stinky battlefield vibes

No bipod on the Bren is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke. It makes my MG's soul seethe
Ol'Jonesy May 25, 2023 @ 5:43am
The UK faction design choices are incredibly odd all around. The proliferation of the Lancaster, the Lewis Gun as the mainstay MG (Vickers anyone?), and the P14 (??)...not to mention the Jungle Carbine (mk5)???

The gamification of HLL has hit a new high on this one my friends.

It seems that someone on BM/T17's dev team was a BF1 fan.

The Vickers K came to mind, will it is a rare(er) it was used on d-day as a proper mg. (And on jeeps by SAS and airborne). That gun makes more sense than the lewis.
I can understand if the commander and scout leader had the lanchester, but officer should have the sten.
And ffs just add two lee enfields, the no1 mk3 and the no4 mk1. The no4 could have a better ironsight for cqb
