Team play is horrible
I hate this damn game. Team play is trash, and that is what the game is all about. So many wasted hours learning a game that when I learn how to play, is full of garbage people.

Have you considered playing SL or CO instead of blaming other people for their short comings and rather than complaining taking up the reigns and becoming part of the solution? All I'm hearing is excuses... :steamsalty:

yeah some games end up being complete train wrecks, but then other games end up being absolute awesome experiences. You get a good game with people who at a minimum are at least talking to each other and can listen, and you would be amazed what can happen.

Hell just earlier tonight we were on Utah Beach and the enemy quickly capped mid & the 2nd cap, pushing us back to our last objective. We managed, just by being able to talk to each other and coordinate somewhat, and push through 3 objectives to their last. Sounds like you're hitting a bad streak my guy

Here's a few facts for you:

Black Matter has done pretty much everything to allow entire teams to not engage in squad gameplay. You used to _HAVE_ to have a support to place a garrison, for example. No other way.
Earlier days, there was a bigger focus on communication from the community itself. Many servers required you to have a mic and those rules were actually enforced. Nowadays... nope. 2019 and 2020 were the heydays of Hell Let Loose, when people actually talked in-game. This is simply a fact. Been here since those early days and you can't get around it in 2022: The majority of people will just John Rambo this game and get away with it.

You can act all high and mighty with your "be part of the solution", denying the fact that this game _is_ dying is pretty dumb. I can personally vouch that "playing SL yourself" doesn't guarantee you'll have a good time. You still need your squad to play along. And then there's the folks who play SL just because they have their solo "plans" to keep up their KDR and place their OP in just the most ridiculous places ever, keeping the rest of the squad away from playing the objective efficiently.

The playerbase for HLL has been dwindling, steadily, over its entire lifetime. Sure there was a bit of a bump in the run up to release and with some updates, as is expected from an early access title (at the time) but even now it struggles to stay around 8k players per day. Pretty bad if you know October/November 2019 saw 4k players...
Squad on the other hand is showing a much healthier growth in their recurring playerbase, if you need something to compare to.

Pretty sure at some point either Black Matter or Team17 decided it was enough, fasttracked version 1.0, and focused on selling the game on console to fill in the gap Battlefield (5 at the time) left. The pandemic happened, productivity probably went down, Team17 probably needed to plug some financial holes and forced BM to rush gold release - something along those lines.

Doesn't help that this game is still terribly optimised and looks like crap too.

The game is entirely reliant on a few individuals who are complete weirdos and enjoy leading a group of strangers into virtual combat and also have a solid understanding of the games mechanics. This is such a low proportion of players is a wonder this game is going as strong as it is.
I just go into this game recently. It seems is hard to get ANY squad leader at all.

Most of the people who cared enough to be a somewhat decent squad leader have either moved on to other games or now simply don't care anymore because SL is all they've played over the years and they now (rightly) think "f this I'm not SL'ing _again_" (I'm one of them. Level 9 SL, level 10 Command and level 9 Support but the rest of my classes are 1-2's. I will not SL ever again.)

BM decided to focus on stupid "rank" and "unlockables" as the cheapest way to implement little dopamine rush-triggers.
All this leads to is in-game rank shaming ("hurhurhur level 12 commander hur hur noob" very often in chat) while rank means nothing and people caring more about getting the next steam achievement rather than winning a match.

Look at global achievement stats for HLL: barely 50% has won/lost their first game.

You can safely assume that means that 50% of players have stopped playing this game before Achievements became a thing.

HLL is just another game that was marketed as a tactical shooter to get the tac shooter crowd to buy into early access therefore funding the early development. Then over a series of early access updates they casualized the game into bs with no teamwork. Its just another battlefield clone now. Buy Ready or Not if you want a tactical experience.

I can only tell you that the client is the one thing in this game that IS not programmable. The phrase "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink" is profoundly applicable here.
Well to be honest about the team play on HLL it is none existent I played earlier and our zone is being captured none bothered to defend or respawn back all was moving forward until the enemy captured the zones game ended in 30 minutes.

Also none seems to bother about their role anymore they just spawn and aim for kills where each should be supporting on the field. I was an AT and killed a light tank asked for ammo none bothered to supply an ammo for my Bazooka and all of them died cause another tank appeared.

HLL was okay back on TU6,7,8 after that all went downhill so fast if you really wanted team play Arma 3 is an option but performance wise it's okay, there's Ready or Not, G.T.F.O, Zero Hour but barely anyone plays it, Squad I can't really recommend since the performance is too taxing and riddled with bugs.

Random matches are a coin toss, stopped playing because of the poor teamplay, so many people think this is COD.

This is exactly what came to my mind as someone with 90% of the playtime on commander/SL, goodluck when no one is communicating and you're hauling an entire team on your shoulders and you're breaking slowly.

Pretty much me, I have taken a break from this game, I would usually be in a command position. But, the community has made it not fun to continue. Recent games I got tked for telling someone to use a Mic, squad members tking me for not placing outposts, while on a garry run..............

Silly things like that scare people off naturally, WHY would anyone stay lol. If you want the BEST experience, play clan matches, they would obviously be professional. Random pub matches are a coin toss. From my experience, you have balance issues which are a big problem too, in many games it was a one sided domination. I have had 10 games in a row, of people not defending, everyone rushing towards offense, blueberries are like a herd of sheep heading towards a cliff lol.

So best advice, stick to clan matches for consistency, pub matches are frustrating....
