HLL is still being worked on heavily with quite a bit of stuff being worked on for the game, so I doubt there will be a modern sequel any time soon. If you were looking for one though Squad would probably be your best bet.

I hate modern-era competitive Military games, getting shot by one of 5 dozen riflemen from 500m with a 4x ACOG is the definition of boring gameplay, it's why I hate Squad.

They need to decide whether they want a squad-based realism game or an arcade shooter. I've never seen a more confused game with so much potential. The devs are getting with murder because I cannot believe this mess retains a playerbase. The only thing keeping it alive is arcade-style FPS gaming community who got bored of CoD and PUBG, yet they know it's not viable in this form on console, so they won't go full arcade.
