If you are more of a sniping from 200meters person maybe kar98 is better but if you are pushing a point garand has all the advantage.
It has a 5 round strip magazine and is a bolt action rifle that could be loaded with single bullets. It fires a 7.92x57 Round.
M1 Garand:
It has an 8 Round metal en-bloc spring loaded magazine and is semiautomatic. It fires a .30-06 Round.
The reality is that in close-up fighting or house clearing, you're going to have an easier time with the Garand, because of the higher rate of fire. But for picking off targets at long range a field and a half away, the Karabiner is a reliable tool.
Both are good, but you have to adapt your playstyle to the capabilities of the weapons. If you want to run and gun with a 98k, you're going to be watching the respawn counter a lot. :)
If you are using this fine rifle I recommend focusing more on specialising on the role/class you've picked, only engaging the enemy when it is required. If you're a German support player with the Kar98k and not putting down your ready supplies then you're doing it wrong. If you're a standard rifleman, always have your ammo down for team mates and especially MGs that are using a lot of their ammo. Otherwise, engage from a distance and snipe enemies while the assaulters move up.
Overall, it is also more satisfying to get kills with because it demands more skill from you and like others have said while the Americans get a good standard rifle, the Germans' weapons are definitely superior to their American and especially Soviet counterparts boasting a better variety of automatic weapons and the G43 can give the Garand a run for its money anyway.
Keep in mind though that how successful you are with any weapon in Hell Let Loose is by far more determined by player skill. You'll still get domed by a Thompson from 200m away.
