Does anyone use Bar over Thompson?

It seems like Thompson have almost 0 recoil and can tackle medium (sometimes long) range if fired in short bursts. BAR's on the other hand, while more punishing to the enemy, have stupid high recoil making long range combat almost unbearable. And if it's short/medium range I could just kill with a Thompson much faster while repositioning my aim toward other targets due to the lack of recoil.

The one time I will use the BAR is the alternate MG loadout when we need suppressive fire, but need to stay (more or less) on the move; and thus I don't want to deploy the M1919 each time.

Luckily it's only default (the BAR) for Auto-Rifleman class.


Edit, Also for engagements up to around 140-150m (then you're pushing it) the Tommy gun is quite ideal for both accuracy (again, medium range and below) and rate of fire.

Man, I hate the BAR in this game lol I hated grinding with it to get the FG42 (which I think is better in the game and IRL).
IDK it just does not work for me all that well or I am just not gud with it. I do like the Thompson but feel like I always get out ranged with it, but it's a beast in Carentan and parts of St. Mare-Eglise.

The garand has better stability if you're in combat over a long period of time. At least that's how I feel.

Thompson is my favorite gun hands down. Has 0 recoil and can actually be used to snipe at medium, sometimes long ranges.

It's super accurate and easy to hipfire and it's rate of fire is perfect.

Only advantage the bar has is being bery effective at long range when you fire single shots, you can drop one person with one round so if you're in a good spot you can drop quite a lot of them without reloading.
I sometimes take the bar for a more long range approach with the ability to also hipfire full auto when clearing trenches or buildings, but if i can choose i'll go for the thompson any day.

No because the BAR is possibly the worst gun in the game. Its like having a M1 Garand with less damage with the amount of recoil it has.

Bar is a low recoil high firerate rifle, that´s how I use it. Mainly for high range engagements

Well when i fire it like that i won't hit a damn thing at such range, but if you semi fire it it's dead accurate.
It's recoil is no issue when full autoing in closer ranges though.

As I said use it as a high fire rate rifle and you will be fine.

Medium range, what does that even mean? It takes 2 hits to kill with the BAR at 100m. The M1 garand is still doing 1 hit kills out to 200m. At 100m the recoil on the BAR is so bad you are doing single taps and doing half the damage. Do the math, the BAR is hot garbage. They need to give it the bipod it was supposed to have.

I get that it's ment to have a bipod but i can never be arsed to deploy a BAR's bipod in games when it's there.

You go through your 20 round mag so quickly and i prefer to take cover when reloading after a long burst of fire because it generally makes you a priority and very visible target.
Just makes you a sitting duck that loves reloading imo
