HLL untapped eSports potential
might be a lil controverse but HLL has serious eSports potential. By far the most fun in this game lies in balanced servers where 2 coordinated teams duking it out. Sure the maps arent perfectly balanced but u can get super intense plays nonetheless when both sides actually try to win. please dont let this drift more and more in the casual szene where non communication becomes the norm.Look where Squad ended up. u dont need to balance this game ARROUND eSports. Sports doesent need to be perfectly fair, in reality it never is. So dont strife for perfect balancd but just Push the competetive szene and host more eSport events, so people see and understand the glory of this game, which there is plenty in this.

I'm completely supportive of the idea. But I think you'll agree that getting together even two 40 man teams would be like herding cats. But damn! I'd love to see it.
not everything needs to be an esport or "competitive"

it's existed for a long time already. the next Seasonal is due to start in February with 24 teams signed up so far i think. these games are full 50v50 and the teams are made of of clans with larger pools of players and smaller ones teaming up.

There is other events as well some that run smaller scale like 18v18 infantry only over a single point but i don't know much else about the others.

We also have squad line battle where a game is run every week (currently 2 run at the same time with so many players signed up) where groups signup a squad, tank crew, recon team or go as commander. these are less competitive games and more organized normal public games.

Clans tend to have there own internal events to like WTH's sweaty Thursday. we split our self's as evenly as possible and either lock the server or if we don't have the numbers that week leave it open for others to just join

I've got to disagree. Some investors are now saying e-sports may eclipse stadium sports within 10 to 15 years. And there are a lot of demographic reasons for this. The purses grow larger every year and so do the audiences. It's still below the radar, but that is mostly because of the unawareness of the old farts in sports media. The unique thing about e-sports is that it goes far beyond vicarious entertainment. Just about anybody can participate. Not just watch. Do some research on the annual revenue growth. It's breathtaking.

Its a sign of the end times.

There is even an elo system (ranking), set up by the community. Currently there are more than 50 registered clans. Friendlies as well as cup and league matches are factored in. The top 3 clans right now are CoRe, 116. and WTH.
Here is the discord invite if you are interested:

Also, there is a number of streamers that are showing competitive matches regularly. I'm not aware of any exhaustive list of streamers or matches. We list our streams in our match history, but that's no common practice I'm afraid. In case you are interested, here's the link:

Was hard enough to get 8 Players per Team in RO2 for Clanwars every weekend, but from what i`ve seen german hll community invoke something like the old DROL for RO. Seems they playing well and have enough players for both german leagues. I´m even thinking about joining a team. Had enough wars in Ro2 but hll really makes me horny if i could play competetive as tc...

HLL should dance with, those that brought them. And it wasn't Esports.

Indeed..

I don´t know why this new generation thinks everything needs to be rated from bottom to top...

No one is forced to play competitively, but any multiplayer game always benefits from balance. It doesn't need to be symmetrically balanced, but I don't see how having an unbalanced game can be a good idea.

I disagre

Going for a competitive aspect (as in ratings etc) will draw away some people and increase the people that wanna cheat. It will most likely also hinder the team play we see a lot of times now.

It is just not suited for this type of game and there is no need.. Not every game needs silly rating systems to be "competitive"

I was talking about balance. You are mixing up things here... whatever...
While player based ranking has those downsides you mentioned, a ranking on clan level should be okay, as clans have an interest in not having cheaters amongst them (who wants to be associated to cheaters?).
