Was hitting a tank with bazooka, graphics were crazy in a satisfying way. Sucked to be the crew.
For someone who only played an hour or two now, HLL is different. Effects are more simple, but at the same time environmental stuff (like house interiors) are significantly more detailled.
Overall, don't decide which game looks prettier to you. HLL requires significantly more teamwork than BFV (or any other Battlefield). Also if you don't like BFV's spotting, don't even touch HLL (, since it feels worse… and really unreliable, but maybe I was doing something wrong… sometimes aiming at allies revealed them, sometimes it did not).
For me as a BF player – which might be helpful for you – my biggest gripes are not with graphics, but:
* With no teamwork this feels like a walking simulator, since you'll get shot from the sides sooner or later, unless you camp all the time. This can get very frustrating, far worse than spawning on the wrong objective in BFV.
* While you can be very successful in BFV without voice coms, here it's certainly a lot more tricky.
* If you don't like BFV's TTK, don't even touch this. It's more geared towards realism, so you're typically down after one or two bullets.
* Reviving works similar to BFV, although it's limited to Medics only. Healing is almost 1:1 to BFV, but you can't throw pouches and have to apply them directly (as far as I know).
* There's no hit or kill feedback, which in some more laggy situations is really annoying. Only thing in that way is teamkills, but those two or three I've got, I couldn't even associate (one appeared like 5 minutes later it seems).
* Overall map design in HLL feels more gritty, think more like BF1's In The Name of the Tsar maps. They're also significantly larger, but it's also more tactical.
The game is certainly still rough around the edges, lots of information is hidden or not even accessible in the game. The entry level regarding skill and things you have to learn is certainly a lot higher compared to BFV. So if you're on the fence or not sure, maybe just give it some more time and check back in in December during the sure to come Winter Sale.

I think game looks good enough and runs smooth. Yes, the effects could be better but still the game is in a quite good shape as an early access game what comes to graphics. I like the maps very much with all the details in terrain and buildings.
EDIT: Also you can try these settings in engine.ini if you'd like the game to look better:
For example; HLL released Omaha map this week, but DICE is still releasing crap exotic maps like Fjell, Aerodrome, Narvik, Hamada, etc. They're losing their playerbase and they put a new Metro map (Operation Underground) which made the BF3 so popular. Lol! BFV has negatively impacted itself.
WW2 is the Battle of Stalingrad for me! WW2 means the Battle of El Alamein, Moscow, Berlin.. WW2 is the Battle of the Bulge, Gazala...
One day, if they remake BF42 with Frost engine, it sells like hotcakes.
BFV = #notmybattlefield
hard to compare those two. BF is more dynamic in the effect department with all them desctructibles. HLL is static on that term. Also BF has dynamic weather effects on the plus side. Animations are better there aswell. BF uses HDR and HLL doesn't if you are in for that. I'd say textures are equally sharp on both games. So on the technical side BF seems superior.
BUT as much as I critisize HLL (because I'd like to see it stand out of other games) I must say what the visual artists do with the unreal engine is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. I've hardly seen so much detail in a WW2 game with that huge scale. And there is no repetition there. Everything looks handcrafted. BF just looks like the artistsjust placed assets without any clue of what they are doing, it's just a theme park.
