The reason you're getting dropped so often in the grassland, or the forest is a factor of multiple possible enemies, and a chance they have more experience than you - and a very good chance at 2 hours; you need to factor in how often your killing targets that were unaware of you, and compare that to your very own demise in the game.
I agree that it's not fun to be a team that is getting repeatedly swept, you have to remember with up to 99 other participants it's really out of your control, no matter how good a sniper, tank gunner, or Commander that you are.
Typically, if we're getting rolled I switch up my tactics, if I see a lack of armour squads (happens more often than you think) I can pickup a recon vehicle and maybe get lucky behind enemy lines.
Other times I'll build nodes, or switch over to arty; or ferry supplies and learn where you can (and can't) drive around to drop off supplies for garrisons
Ive played a good bit of tactical military games but this one is by far the least beginner friendly, id say its beginner hostile!
it doesnt help that ontop of that the graphics are bugged and i have to adjust them through nvidia control panel.
If you are not that sort of person then ther is no way you will have fun here.
There are many roles - support, combat, sitting in an artillery seat, etc..... but none of them give a big immediatte thrill ... what you look for is to realise a job well done, even in defeat.
If that isnt' you, and you need your KDR fix after every game, then you should probably move on.
1) Ask veteran players what do they need help with. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
2) Move with your squad and constantly check the map where everyone is at
3) Experiment and take risks; if no one wants to be squad leader, just hop on and test the role out
4) SLOW down your movement. Don't just rush to a point. Observe and be patient.
5) Watch some tutorials on YT in your free time
6) If you're dying a lot in a certain place, don't keep going there. Be strategic and spawn someone else and flank around the problem.
7) Map awareness comes only with time. You can try to study a map if you want to be competitive, but overall, practice in real time will reward you slowly but surely.
8) Join an empty or limited server, and test all the classes out. This can be especially helpful with learning how to drive a tank.
I'd say around 30-50hrs in the game of doing all these suggestions, you shouldn't be lost and unaware of what is happening. You will be comfortable with the terms used in voice comm like nodes and garrisons. You may not know everything yet, such as how to be commander, and maybe missing some knowledge of the other classes, but you'll definitely have a broader understanding of how to enjoy the game.
Best of luck and hope to see you in the fields.
Expect to spend a LOT of your time being hopelessly obliterated by things you can not possibly do anything about.
You need to learn the maps, the little details across dozens of different areas. The kits, their weapons, the sounds, the ranges of grenades, good mine locations, train your eyes to recognize specific colours and movements, to filter out the noise - That's one thing this game hits new players the hardest is the noise.
There is SO MUCH going on at once that the result is often a sensory overload that leaves you scrutinizing meaningless details, failing to find the critical things buried under it all.
The only way I've found any enjoyment is as part of a squad that's working together and at this stage of the games development that's a rare thing.
The american clan servers have the most team work imo so try there for a game but keep jumping squads till you find one with an sl communicating.
The game can be fun but YOU have to put the effort in to make it so.
Put some time in to see if you can like this game, 2 hours is not even getting your toes wet.
You're not missing much tbh dude this one's more of a filler than thriller
