Performance guide of older rigs like GTX 1080 and i7-4770k
Hello,
I have GTX 1080 and i7-4770k and I was having 45 fps in the centre of the battle, and significant frame drops even outside the centre of battle, so I decided to give a try with uncommon options that were not present in recent performance guides.
Here is the list of the steps that I have performed and those points combined together gave me around 60 fps at 1080p at most time of the battle except some of ADS cases, artillery animations or grenades, and during first time loading wider part of the map, which are still pain in the neck and can cause fps drops, but at least now game is playable for me. Of course I cannot guarantee it will work the same for you and I do not take the responsibility, but I decided to share those points since they might be helpful for you at least to some extent:

1. Clean install of Windows 10 from May 2020 Build without any updates
I observed fps drops in COD MW after any installed updates, so that build seems to me the best one.

2. I overclocked my CPU from stock 3,5 GHz to 3,9 GHz
I read for other CPU dependent game that CPU should be at least 4 GHz in order not to bottleneck the GPU. I hit 3,9 GHz only due to mainboard overclocking limitation.

3. Tested the CPU temperature if does not limit the CPU capacity by HWMonitor and CPU-Z
Overheated CPU can cause maximum capacity decrease because of mechanism preventing reaching critical temperature. Those tests ensured me that overclocking does not cause overheating in my case.

4. Installed very old graphic drivers 376.33
Suprisingly any drivers other than around 400.00 give me significant fps drops in any game. This is the driver that works the best for me.

5. Overclocked GPU Memory by +1000 MHz in MSI Afterburner
Tested formerly on Monster Hunter World that such overclocking gave 5-10 fps so I did the same here hoping for best results.

6. Switched off Windows antivirus
It may cause fps drops especially in case of weak CPU, so definitely I wanted to supress it here. Yes I know it is risky but fps was a priority.

7. Switched off Game Mode
I heard too many times it is causing troubles and massive performance drops so definitely I wanted to keep it off.

8. Disabled Windows Update service
This service both consumes CPU and network bandwith and moreover can bring updates which will provide security patches (nice), but may again break the performance (not nice).

9. Enabled GPU scheduling
I saw on the recent performance guides it is a fine option.

10. Set power mode to maximum performance
Self-explainable that computer should be brought to this state in order to use maximum of available resources without any power-saving mode

11. Installed the game on SSD drive
Ensure data files and textures are not bottlenecked by hard drive read speed.

12. Set the starting options -dx12 -refresh 60 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system -high -NOTEXTURESTREAMING
I combined together all suggested options and they seem together to be the best.

13. Set maximum performance in Nvidia Control Panel and Shader Cache to ON
I did not notice any significant boost from the other options than those ones.

14. Do not run any other applications.
If you open task manager you will see that almost any other application tends to consume even some small chunk of CPU. In case we want to maximise the performance make sure that there are not running any other applications even in background.

15. Disable Steam overlay
I heard many times this may cause few fps drops so again it is better to keep it disabled.

This is it. I hope I could help you and please share your feedback if those instructions brought some improvement of performance, or even your own thoughts what could be improved too :-)

Hey just thought i would ask is the game performing better now than on the Free Weekend about a Month back? They had just dropped an update that was giving people a big performance hit with Grass iirc?

no better for me.

I have tried a fair few different tweaks over the last few days - the most significant change I made that seems to have fixed things and given me back U8 level performance is dropping res scale to 75% (i run at 1440p native). I was still getting mad stutters though until I dropped sound quality from Epic down to High in the audio settings. Since then game has been smoother, FPS seems more stable at 80-100 usually and even when i zoom in with the tank optics my frames dont seem to half like they used to - maxed out zoom and still get 55-60+ frames which i didnt get before.

Give that a go - sound doesn't even sound much different...

Overclocking can cause engine crashes with this game.
