Question: Is there KD and stat tracking or career progression ?

Nope, stats are only tracked for each battle duration.

KD and stats are mostly only tracked on a per match basis. You can sort of track some other stats through steam achievements, but it's not very robust. There is career progression though. You can progress with your career level and unlock cosmetics in the process, and you can progress in individual roles. You unlock guns and usable items by leveling up your roles.

I personally hope that a K/D doesn't become a long term stat. This isn't the type of game that needs it. Not saying you OP would do this, but inevitably you'd get some just going for kills, moreso than now, and ignoring objectives. See, the AAA shooters these days.

Can always jot it down from the match end stats if needs be.
