EAC support for Linux is "just a few clicks" away. Linux support for Proton Please devs?
Relevant article where the "just a few clicks.." quote came from: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2021/09/epic-games-announce-full-easy-anti-cheat-for-linux-including-wine-a-proton

Since the support is there in EAC, why don't you devs enable it? I really hate having to dual boot with Windows just to play a few games, and doing this would take one of those games off the list, with apparently minimal effort from the devs.

Good point.

Its NOT EAC by default, but the Epic Online Service, which needs integration of Epics Online System. This will take time.

every SINGLE time is see 'linux' in a steam discussion i immediately wonder;
"what will 1.05% of ALL steam players do without additional linux support!?!'

and then i move on to thinking about more realistic goals, like world peace.. or reducing greenhouse emissions.

Just because you don't personally care, doesn't mean other people don't or shouldn't. More games on Linux is easily more attainable than world peace or reducing greenhouse emmisions, lmao. Especially when it's literally, apparently, a few clicks away for the devs. But thank you for wasting your time, coming in here to a thread you care nothing about, just to say that you don't care about it.

except that i do, and i'd rather them 'spend two clicks' working on the game for WINDOWS than any kind of fiddling for linux... because i care about the game.
derp!

But why? Windows is a terrible OS and won't actually detract from anything meaningful they are doing. Stop acting like a child.

Derp is right. How does simply enabling play for Linux detract in any meaningful way from the game in other ways. I'm literally arguing for this simply because it seems to be so easy. If it's not that easy, then that's fine I can understand, but so far, I've been led to believe that this is "a few clicks away". What's the deal? You seem to be opposed for no actual reason.

Why not, transsexuals make up 0.000000001% of the world population yet everyone bends over backwards for them.
adding support for linux users wouldn't be to much to ask, stop discriminating on them. lol

Heh, I mean, we're not expecting a complete port of the game... just enable a thingy for the anti-cheat. From everybody's reports on ProtonDB, the game already runs perfectly fine, you just get booted from a match after about a minute due to the anti-cheat. I wonder if private servers that disable the anti-cheat are a thing?

works just fine on Linux now, got it yesterday. 23 hours in. using proton 6.3-7 on mint 20.02 nvidia drivers 470.63.01.

EAC and the new Epics Online Services with AC are two different systems. It will take time to move over to the newly released system.

That's false. All you have to do is look at the documentation and see that they refer to the Anti Cheat service as EasyAntiCheat.
https://dev.epicgames.com/docs/services/en-US/GameServices/AntiCheat/index.html

https://dev.epicgames.com/docs/services/en-US/GameServices/AntiCheat/AntiCheatIntegrationCheckList/index.html

Epic Online Services are not new, and this is how EAC and their other services have been accessed the whole time.
