Destructive Buildings
An little idea popped into my mind of an idea for this game. Destructive buildings, somewhat like what's in Battlefield 5, but much more realistic.
The Admin of a server could make it so there's destructive buildings, or not. So in some servers there won't, and some will. So having destructive buildings in a server is optional.

Yeah, but like many things, this requires a massive code change that the studio may not wish to invest in. The concept is great, but it could add a great deal of overhead to game performance.

I wouldn’t mind small levels of destruction. Like a wood fence getting chipped away or sandbags blown up by a bomb.

In any game where a player can get killed in 1 to 2 bullets you never see destructanle environments. Know why? Because it would be stupid design, imagine being in a large open area with no cover. Demolished buildings, trees reduced to stumps ect, tanks would become incredibly over powered and infantry would reduced to camping or making a daring dash across no mans land only to get blasted.

Also the game isnt really optimised as it is. If there was destructable buildings, maps like carentan would kill peoples pc’s.

You dont know much about coding and engine? This would require about 90% game redone, not only maps but weapon effects. Their engine could allow for limited destruction but not like BF engine can.

Yeah, this is impossible. This would not only cost lots of performance, but this level of destruction would also cost lots of bandwidth because each destroyed element needs to be tracked by a server for each of the 100 players.

Yeah I never really thought of that. You are very right. I don't want this game ending up something like Call of Duty or Battlefield. I love the way it is. The realism and atmosphere of this game is what really drives me to like it.

Very true. On top of that it would probably take YEARS to do. Never thought of that until now. Now I know.

UE4 Chaos Destruction system is a thing.

It's not that they would have to make the tools, but redoing every building with it would be a bit ridiculous at this stage.

Pity. Pre-recorded physics interactions that you can replay in engine for next to no performance hit. Pretty cool.
i want to be able to smash holes in walls and set up a building the way i want.. for a good sniper or machine gunner position.

So if you are machinegunner or sniper how would you smash holes? With your weapon butt perhaps? Next comes trenching tool which is spade. Would be far more realisitc to be able to dig holes in ground but it too would be unrealistic to dig it in few mins vs real time. That too would require whole ground redone in battlefield.

Big thing here too is buildings which are closed. Only few provide entrance inside

That is impossible to do in a game! Now maybe if this was 2009 and using the hardware from a xbox 360 they could do it but trying to make games play like bf3 is clearly far to difficult for all the modern soy powered devs.

BattleField managed this pretty well on the xbox 360, was it bad company 1 and 2, then on to BF3 and 4 on-wards.

Eu acredito que poderiam adicionar, mesmo que mínimo, um pouco de destruição. Mas mesmo que demore, o Jogo é incrível! :steamthumbsup:

I've wanted them to do this for years, but sadly, it seems the way the game is coded would make destruction virtually unfeasible given the amount of work it would take. Instead, it will be nice to see them add new/improved weather effects as seen on the roadmap! Even if we can't have destruction, stuff like intense rain/snow, improved lighting etc would do the job and add some of the immersion you're looking for.
