Can't get in vehicles?
Joined an empty server this morning. Could jump into a tank and have a drive about. Just tried another few games to do the same but I couldn't access any of the vehicles or artillery.

Spawned as Armour unit each time.

Any ideas?

maybe server rules against early tanks ?

I believe you need to be in an armoured squad to begin with. If you form one yourself you could get in. but please don't be one of those people that attempt to squander resources by solo tanking.
