You shouldn't also be lumbered with some bell end who goes on Steam forums and complains about never being able to sn...
Oh...
Hi,
Speaking for the "Muppets": Nah, because guys like you either refuse to communicate in voice, or start getting rude, especially if you're asked to make room for a buddy. If you're this upset about it, pick a new server.
Besides, nine times out of ten, the snipers/recon squad end up camping the front lines, and don't actually do RECON... as in, infiltrating enemy lines, finding their spawns, reporting tank positions, etc... sadly, most people who 'want' to play recon actually just want to sit in a building for an hour 'gettings the kills, bros!' ...which is a total misuse of the recon squad.
I wish it was more era-specific realistic... make it a commander-call in ability that "whatever squad" the commander picks gets to "unlock" a rifleman class with a scope... this way a few players we actually WANT to have scopes, will get one [keep it only 1 scope per squad, 2 scopes in game]... and they'll [hopefully] only be in squads with people using mics and talking in command chat.
that, or give the commander the ability to boot people out of the recon squad, because most of the 'recon duo' teams are trash at reporting anything... or pushing past/around the frontline.
Many players who want to play "sniper" do so because they just want to sit in a house and rack up a high kill count. The role of the recon team is best served disrupting enemy supply links and busting garrisons deep behind enemy lines.
The recon team's specialized rules for OP placement makes it the only unit type capable of effectively fulfilling this game-winning responsibility.
You're not the only one with a 980 pro, bud, and it isn't even the fastest thing on the market atm.
I play in Oceania, and I've really not had that much problem getting a recon squad. But it's a matter of 'fair go', to some extent. I don't try and get it every time because that would be kind of balls. That said - there's often an agreement in recon teams to play two games, and swap the roles if possible.
Send an email to the devs and see if they have ideas to sort it if it's bothering you so much.
You can 'kind of snipe' with a lot of the rifles though... so you aren't really missing anything but the scope.
Getting mad kills is a bit pointless as a sniper; it's of limited help to sit outside a cap point and just ping heads for hours inflating your k/d (except, arguably, on defence).
But your complaints sort of miss the point - I've gone 'fake recon' often, by simply starting a locked infantry squad and playing solo as a spotting squad command when actual recon isn't doing it.
The binoculars are available to every squad commander, and 'fake recon' can do pretty much all the same stuff, OP wise. The only think you're missing is a guy with a scope, which really isn't as important as getting behind lines and taking out supplies/garrisons/nodes.
But, half the time, spotting is pointless anyway. There are a lot of times I've been recon, spotting tanks, and the commander has shouted "Just get your AT to kill it, stop telling me."
Honestly; it's a mixed bag all round.
What I would *LOVE* to see would be nodes be slightly faster to take down. The time requirement atm is insane. I had a game recently where I found nine next to each other, and I suspect I was probably bush-worming for about 15 minutes with an audio book on. That's not exactly 'fun gameplay'.
