Three or four roads that can just be completely blocked off. Logically speaking we could just take through the backyards or buildings to find an alternative route but 75% of the buildings on the French maps are inaccessible and the backyards are too.
Open the maps up for ♥♥♥♥'s sake.

You read maybe one line of my post.
Opening up the map means just that. Let more of the back gardens and buildings be more accessible and the flow of gameplay not only improves, the historical value of the maps also remain intact. Let soldiers vault over most walls instead of just some.

Arbitrarily cutting off entrances to the point does nothing but grind the gameplay flow to a stand still. Historically speaking every building, alley, and garden that wasn't completely bombed out would have been accessible to each side. "Explore a workaround" is an invalid and lazy answer when, as OP mentioned, nine out of ten "workaround" paths are locked by the Devs. The Carentan map suffers from this immensely.

They take liberties with other maps. Especially urban areas.
