Spying for the enemy team
I want it to be clear that I love this game. It's probably one of the best FPS and WWII sims I've ever played, I even got my friends into it. That being said, I've had recent matches where it was obvious that at least one or two people with barely any score other than defense on my team were relaying information about our positions and garrison locations. Enemy Arty and Tanks would destroy or get rid of Garrisons merely seconds after they were up in 3 different defensive positions as US vs Germans in Foy. This was even more likely to be the case when one squad scouted for recon and OPS while everyone else defended, and found nothing, including officers viewing from a distance with their binoculars or squads physically walking entire areas of a grid and finding no one, and yet regardless of where we set up garrisons or spawn points, they would get artied or tank spawn camped INSTANTLY. This happened in a NEVER PLAY ALONE SERVER (specifically the Fury one) and it has happened in other servers of this name to me in the past. There's such a notable difference when it's actually skill based vs. when someone is specifically telling the enemy where we are (one match last night had a dude rat himself out when he accidentally typed in team chat that he was streaming his POV on discord) and he got kicked instantly because of it. If this is going to become a new trend with this game, it saddens me because I have no interest in playing it if that would be the case. Is there any way the devs could prevent something like this from happening, at least in-game? I've had 3 different matches where my team just got steamrolled in matches that should have lasted much longer but had no chance cause regardless of where we were, all of our spawns were either destroyed instantly or camped merely a minute after they were set up (and I would check enemy team levels and it would usually be maybe a handful over level 100, and maybe half a dozen over level 50, so on paper both teams were balanced, so I refuse to believe multiple people who are still low level got instantly that good to the point where they overrun entire defenses without getting dropped or killed, as it happened in more than one game).

Has anyone else had an experience similar like this? I know it's possible to sneak OP's and Garrison's for advances or for flanking maneuvers, but usually the attacks from said enemy takes much longer to manifest itself, vs. immediately getting wiped out or destroyed as soon as your re-spawn where you're now forced to defend.

I wouldn't say it is a common thing by any means. However, the couple times I have run into similar situations in game, it was on servers run by the community you mentioned. The first time I had a squad member find the streamer on our team. He was live streaming it on Twitch without a map overlay and was leaving his map open most of the time. My squad member reported it with a link to the stream and got kicked for his trouble. The second time, myself and another player were threatened with a ban by a member of that community for pointing out that something seemed a bit suspicious. Later, I found where there had indeed been a player on our team who was just standing in the corner of a bombed out building, with his map open, for the entire match. He wasn't even smart enough to pull the video down right away. I was going to post the link here, but it is no longer up. I just refuse to play on those servers anymore. There are a lot of well run community servers where I don't run into stuff like that. Don't be afraid to jump around a bit and try other servers. I would avoid the HLL public servers, though. Too many griefers, trolls, and cheaters. I very rarely run into any issues on the servers I play on. When I do, the Admins usually deal with it pretty quickly.

Sometimes referred to as "ghosting." It has been a problem in SQUAD from time to time. One warning sign is enemies showing up a garrison very shortly after it is set down. I don't see it as a common problem in HLL just yet, but folks need to be aware of the possibility. Some clans have made an attempt to document historic player names present wherever this behavior is suspected to seek a common denominator. It's an inexact science. My personal policy in dealing with it is to drop a server like a hot rock where this behavior seems apparent. If you stay and indulge it, it will only grow worse.

Interesting. I actually had not heard of the term "ghosting" before. Most of my online gaming experience has been in games where it would not have really been possible or practical to do something like that. I agree 100% with dropping servers where those kinds of things happen. I did find it interesting that OP had a very similar experience to myself on the same server. Only real solution is to go elsewhere.

I'm getting sick of the toxicity of the players in those servers myself. You get TK'd then report it whilst being trolled in the chat and asked by the admin or who ever sets out to investigate the issue to provide a video to prove it was an intentional TK while the person is clearly talking trash in the chat.

Not to mention when you try and help by giving suggestions because you have hours and rank over those who just started and some vets you get cursed out and trolled.

It's just sickening to me anymore... This is/was a good game but a lot of the players are ignorant and disrespectful. This isn't a community it is an alpha male contest in some of these servers. Even in these post.

Not very many people have anything good to say and give nasty opinions on things that don't pertain to them but just like to disagree and show it to start an argument on the topic, and would never act like that in person but gotta be tough on the keyboard.

And yes there is most definitely cheaters... What it gets them I don't know but... You are always gonna have bullies and cheaters I guess.

Had experienced this on Squad, PS and similar shooters a like where other players are ghosting for their other teams and use discord so they can reveal the positions or locations of key sectors.

This seems to be the normal style of other players or clan to dominate other players and make them quit or get frustrated which I don't get the benefit of it or what will it contribute to them at all? Will it make them a better player or skilled? Absolutely not pretty sure they are bad in the games without the help of others to expose the map or tell them where the enemy is by standing in the open, revealing where are the garrison/OP or tank and supply nodes are placed.

OP - Multiplayer FPS are worth 100's of millions of $$. This a problem world wide, industry wide.

Unfortunately it show it head in HLL. It easy to spot after playing for 100 level or so. You will just get a feeling when its happening. Basically its that you can NOT keep a garrisons up for more than 2 minutes. (This excludes Airhead cuz they have a big parashoot telling everyone "Here It Is").

The priory kill list seems to be in this order Garrisons, OP, then Nodes from what I have seen.

I'm not inciting anything (per se), but wouldn't the "muh realizzzms!" crowd, not have any objection to this?

why? (by their logic , im being serious). there were indeed spies to each faction in the real world war 2, giving enemy troop movements and plans to the enemy. specially the german vs soviet factions front.

So, to the purists , this should be right up their alley.

Most of the time when people complain about "cheaters" like this, someone had a legitimate way to do what is being complained about. In the case of them immediately finding Garrisons for example, they could easily have recon, or just have been guessing based on dropped supplies or squad movements, or whatever else.

Some do cheat, though. Some do grief. What is the worst is if you get a commander on your team that clearly is aiding the enemy, though that is one of the rare situations where you can get your team to successfully kick someone for grief.

There's no way around it, though. If people are so utterly pathetic that they need to cheat and use the other team's information just to get a little win bonus and win music, there's not much I can think of that would help them - besides perhaps some therapy.

So just do the best you can to deal with it, and hopefully it remains rare. In my experience obvious cheating has been extremely rare in this game in my time so far, even if annoying stuff happens from time to time.

I look at this as an excuse. If you go real world there was encryption, counter Encryption, Spy, Counter Spy, Dedicated Resources to/with Disinformation. Once you get off the superficial excuses the Its OK Stuff just doesn't fly. There are Discord Clans, Twitch, and other sources where this is rampant in real time. We as a player/gamer have no counter(Dedicated Resources)) other than to just be aware. We can not create fake garrison, Ops, or nodes. Then what could we do once we caught someone/some organization.

Remember, there are nefarious types and organisations who want HLL to fail for there own reasons. If you take serious look, you can see the corroborated of actions. There is a lot of money at stake here.
