His complaint is that the browser reported ping does not match that when on server. It is reasonable.
Excuse me, but you are talking ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
His internet connexion settings influences the ping he can see on the enlist page.
However in-game, and especially with 100 players, the ping becomes incredibly higher. This is because of the netcode, or to simplify because the server has a ♥♥♥♥ ton of data to receive/send to each player at the same time, increasing player's latency by a lot.
Which is also why we don't have destructible environment ( it would again increase that limit ).
This a a FPS, not a STR. between 100 and 200, shooting a moving target beyond 100 meters becomes impossible. Due to the way the server deals with data, the ping always varies back and forth of a 20/30 ms interval, so adjusting to a static ping is also impossible.
You can test yourself, at a same location, an empty server will have provide a latency much closer to the enlist page than a full one.
There is some massive optimizations to be done on the server side from the devs.
I'm in your situation. 30 ms on the enlist page. 80 to 120 ms in-game. In this situation, the best is to suppression fire or waiting for someone to be non moving.
It is also normal that the ping may appear lower on the enlist, as you are pinging the server without asking it to compute anything.
I ping those same numbers in the hll server browser.
However in game it's 2x or 3x as high because the server client is running at like 20 - 30 tickrate, and/or the server hardware itself is overloaded.
Most likely a combination of the two, because a server with 20 players = everyone has a low or similar ping to the server browser. As it fills up, everyone's ping climbs through the roof.
Hop in an empty server and check your ping, my ping's low asf, till the server populates.
Needs optimization still imo, or faster single core speed server requirements.
Exactly right. I've found the same thing. Server browser ping is 40 in game its 90 or even 100 and CONSTANT RUBBER-BANDING IN VEHICLES. Vehicles are unplayable for me on some servers recently. Like i was driving a Luch's and a tiger passed me because the lag was so insane. Unacceptable
