We Need Some Official Statement On The K98
This weapon is broken. We need Black Matter to make some kind of official statement on the state of fixing this weapon because I have done loads of testing and it's broken. At least half of my steadied shots at 150m against stationary targets miss. No other weapon in the game has this problem. It needs to be fixed.

The gun is awful and I hate using it - it used to be fine. It actively stops me going support as the KAR98 is the only option.

I agree the Kar98 needs some work. And some acknowledgement on this issue by the devs would be nice.

Standard K98 (claiming, that it is not any better than a HK G3, iron sight has max 300m adjustment)
300m should have 50% hit chance
600m = 10-15% hit chance
...perfect no combat conditions, sunny day without wind, prone, static target,....

on the other hand: 100-200m should be safe hits under perfect conditions

Emme, in those videos you posted, not a single shot was over 100m. Please re-read the original post. In fact, in the very first video at 16:30, he is shooting at targets ~100m and is dead-on and the bullet does nothing and he says "what the heck?" because it should have killed the target, but it missed against a stationary target.

I challenge anyone to record a video of the infantry K98 (not sniper) of them consistently hitting and killing targets over 150m in one, uncut video.

It seems that since Update 7 the Kar98k is completely worthless. It's inaccurate, bullets are slow and drop like crazy, and kill shots randomly don't kill. There's a delay before you start bolting in ADS, reloading takes forever because the idiot character inserts each bullet individually, and the sights are awful because there is no bullet drop compensation. To add insult to injury, NONE of these issues plague the Garand, which gets super lightning bullets. Asymmetric warfare is cool and all, but it stops being fun when you don't shoot where you're aiming and your bullets don't kill.

I've previously suggested several things to help it along; using a clip to speed up partial reloads, more zoom in ADS to give it a long-range edge over the Garand (you know, SOMETHING at least), and with adjustable sights, some tweaked ballistics, and a better hit detection system, the Kar98k should be fine, I think.

The Kar98 sometimes feels like a catapult :-)

I really don't enjoy that thing. I may not be the best player in the world, but I recognise a dodo when I see one...

Probably a hardware issue. Uninstall the game.

Given that your experience is demonstrably false I have to assume you're one of the skill-less allied players who loves the bias and is trying here to maintain it by lying. Just my opinion of course.

I'll restate: I LOVE THE K98. It's a sniper rifle without the scope. Medium to long range It's amazing. I really do think it's a hardware issue for you guys. Maybe change your graphics settings or something.

the broken K98 is the most talked about topic on reddit for some time now. I agree some acknowledgement of the developers would be great. Otherwise I'd assume it's working as intended and this would make me consider moving on and play something else.

At least zero it to 200m already! It's straight up balloney to zero a rifle to 0m when average engagement distance in ww2 was something like 200-300m. We don't really need adjustable sights. Fix it to 200 and let us work with that till gunplay is fixed.

Hitting a moving man size target outside 100m is pretty difficult. Expecially with an open sight. Unless the only gun you ever fired was in Call of Doody.

There's no way to do this. The iron sights don't indicate the point you're shooting at. The bullet originates from the middle of the screen. The difference between the two points is a major part of why the rifle is so bad. Use one of the sniper rifles to see the issue in an exaggerated form.

Hitreg doesn’t plague the kar98 more than any other rifle, it just more noticeable since you have delays between shots so each shot means more to you than say a single shot from a garand.

The bolting speed does need an increase but that is only one of the issue with the weapon balancing, the other issues is the wide availability of the carbine and the extra bar loadout the US got. Will Germans get something to compensate for this?

Reload interruptions, whether intentional or not,
only affects single round reloads and supposedly impacts the Springfield sniper rifle as well, if you reload when you empty out , you will do a full clip reload and it shouldn’t have that issue.
I personally don’t like the ability to mid reload ammunition that require a clip or external magazine to feed , (it doesn’t have the missed time you spend either reinserting ammunition into that clip or magazine) but both sides benefit from this so it isn’t really a balance issue.

The last thing this game needs is an unlockable STG44 at level 9 for every German infantry class. There either should be a limit for certain weapons/classes or they should be replaced with what was actually used back then.

This doesn’t excuse them from adding more automatics to the US side.what they had before was tolerable , now it’s just down right atrocious
