As far as Streamers go, there is nothing the developers can do to force streamers to hide their maps when streaming. They can't code something for a 3rd party product. It'd be like trying to code something in-game to prevent players using discord to talk to one another instead of the in-game voice chat.

This is a community issue, not a developer one unfortunately. Best thing you can do is encourage streamers to use an overlay when they play so the map is covered every time it would be shown. Our admin team on our server has been doing this over the last 12 months or so with pretty good success.

I'm guessing it's possible to watch streams and deduce the player's ID? If so, ID such players and perma-ban them from all servers. These parasites are streaming for what reason other than to ♥♥♥♥♥ money from it? In which case they're not genuine or legitimate players and they have no place in our community. For their own selfish and greedy reasons they're prepared to ruin the game for everyone else. Get rid of them.

Sure, we can target streamers if we wanted to. But at the end of the day, they're just regular players like you and I. We can't confirm what the actual situation is with stream sniping and how prevalent it actually is in order to justify that kind of action.

I'd love to be able to just catch the stream snipers themselves via the stream but that is actually impossible 99% of the time.

How do you describe them as "just regular players"? Why do they stream if not to leech money? Are they providing free entertainment out of the goodness of their hearts? I'm struggling to imagine why a genuine "regular player" would stream his game if money wasn't the motive.

Regardless, put a warning in the server text telling players that anyone streaming will be perma-banned, for the good of the game and the majority who play it honestly. How any streamer can justify his behaviour, knowing how it massively ruins the game, blows my mind. It truly is a massive "FK YOU!" to every honest player.

I sure hope the game gets bad enough for Hertzer to leave.

Its easy, the devs should assign a single guy to monitor Twitch:
example: https://www.twitch.tv/bobaj0r
And insta BAN them

obviously they will have to post an announcment first, something like:
"In 7 days from now, anyone streaming HLL will be banned"

Then they will just add a small "refund" offer to any streamers that want a refund.
They will loose like 20 people maybe, but the rest of us will have a clean game

That is a HORRENDOUS idea. You're alienating the streamers that actively use an overlay when they play, simply because they're streamers. No thanks
well its not a black and white thing, if the streemer is using overlay then the guy monitoring him wont ban him, easy as that

there are not many streams of HLL, a signle guy can monitor them
hell, im ready to offer this service for a fee

Streamers might add some free marketing to your game (just take lol as an example). Therefore i would not instantly ban them --> rather leave a warning if not enough delay / no overlay is used and THEN (perma)ban them from a server.

The marketing bennefits of Twitch are questionable at best.
People that watch twitch are not 100% likley to buy the game
most of them have the game already in the first place

LOL is a free game, so chances are higher for people to download it just to try it out
Less popular games such as HLL dont get much traction on Twitch, with streamers having 1 viwer, or 2. some popular streamer may get more, but its rear

When was this? Just about a month ago or so, Johnno said that a stream friendly version was something that was discussed and something they plan on implementing in the near future. How near, they don't know, but it was something that was on their radar.

While it's true, they can't force anyone to use their stream friendly options, but they can have them available, so there's no excuse for streamers NOT to protect the integrity of the game and the players in their matches.

They could offer some great features with a stream friendly version. Like the ability to hide troop placement, garrisons/outposts and nodes but still allow players who are commanders to open the map, so they viewers could watch what they are doing on the map and what abilities they are using.

Makes ZERO sense NOT to do this.

Most of the players that stream HLL aren't even twitch affiliates or partners, so they aren't making any money, except the rare donation. Also, most of the players who ARE serious about the HLL community use some sort of overlay on their map. Nearly every streamer I watched in the past had some sort of overlay. The few jagoffs that I have come across that don't care, usually aren't streaming HLL for long. They get tired of people storming their channel and telling them to F Off and use an overlay. We ask nice once, then they get all pissy and feel the wrath of all the players they are ruining the game for.

Sometimes its because streamers(i know why some servers already got that rule: "streaming without overlay or 15min delay = permanent ban!, but mostly its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spy/ghost lowlvl character that hangs out in a closed squad with zero points. We just need more admin tools a functionally vote system....

I find the bigger problem with Ghosting and real hacks...
✚Panzerlang✚ Sep 23, 2020 @ 9:08am
There is a solution to this but it's undoubtedly too 'realism' for HLL.

No active map markers. Players can spawn only in squad vehicles or at HQ bases. You die, you hit respawn and go into your squad's vehicle. If it's destroyed your respawn defaults to a chosen HQ.

The realism bit is all directions are given via comms. Players use the map and their compass. You can see only yourself on the map.

Unfortunately, gentlemen, this entire game-trashing map-cheating issue is a product of choosing a casual arcade shooter.

Have you told them it's helping to destroy the game?

Don't stream if you don't want to be snipe stream. A video game can't change human behavior, humans are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and selfish. It's part of the human experience. Anyway people in HLL are not working together enough for that to be a problem. I mean, most people don't care if it's a win or a lost.
