Radioman Class? Thoughts?
I wouldnt be the best person to get the historical accuracy correct, but Radiomen were a thing, and i thought they could have a direct comms link to whoever is on artillery and if standing close enough to supplies in the feild, they could call in minor versions of the commanders fire support? a much weaker bombing run or something? thoughts?

I have always maintained that the Commander needs a little HQ element. An RTO would definitely be a part of that command group.

Those arty that are on field should be ditched maybe complitely since they many times fire even below their minimum ranges and their blast aint big enough if they are 105mm. Maybe switch to 80mm mortars. Arty should be offmap request bombardment from commander, with maybe radioman standing nearby him to call it.

Sounds good, but maybe the officer has to be next with radio men too for a call in. Ow that needs a strong squad play. But at least it wouldnt get over powered. Just a nice feature at the side.

Yes.

General VoiP comms should never be behind a radioman, but access to abilities could be put there.

I think the commander needs a squad to pal around with, the number of times I don't take the role simply because I can't play close to my discord group, is racking up now.

Would be cool if the only way to talk to command is if your near a radio. Food for thought I suppose.

A bunch of us got into a big chat about this last year. I think it was agree'd that putting any channel behind the supports radio or a radioman class was too much because we don't even have enough room for every class, and the game as it is doesn't really support it. Leader channel is too important, and hugging radioman all the time would be too boring.

Day of Infamy had an element like this and it worked out quite well. Unfortunately, it does is a different format than HLL so it can't be used as a good example.

Our mics are the radio. I don't quite understand the question here.
Are you saying to reduce the ability to communicate only thru a radio squad that relays information to Command?
Would every squad have a radio guy the officer gives orders to relay to command then relays to arty?
Interesting idea as if the radio squad is taken out of action then its a loss of communication "Radio is down!!!" and no arty or commander comms, Sounds complicated though.
