HUD turn off by server - feature request
In Red Orchestra there were servers without any HUD. So you really had to see what friendly soldiers are by uniform. I think it would be great to have some hardcore servers in HLL. I know it's difficult to tell who to shoot but if everybody had this problem on a server it would be fun. It changes the way you have to play. Much more careful. You can't just throw grenades like people do now and shoot people over 200meters. And if you kill 5 friendlies you get kicked. In RO2 those servers were also alway marked as hard core, so you can choose. Also the game looks amazing without HUD but it has to be turned off for all players on a server, otherwise it's a big disadvantage. Imagine a game with no HUD at all. No waypoints, no names, etc... You can only see where to go on the map. Maybe a compass in addition that you can get out of your pocket. This would be really hard core and a totally different experience. I think it would slow down the speed of the game also which for me is already a bit too much spawning - get killed cycle. In addition there would be also nice to have the option to have longer respawn times. I guess one life events would be not possible but at least forcing the people to play more mindful and tactical. I mean if this game is about realism then dying every second minute is not helping, right?

honestly if cheaters didn't exist, grass and lods were the same for everyone, sure. But since things pop in and out, grass isn't an issue at a distance and cheaters do exist along with stream sniping.. thats a no thanks for me.

I just see it being fun for those that camp and just aim for the K/D ratio, not for those with actual teamplay in mind (as in screw the objective altogether and lemme get a 100:1 K/D ratio). The teamplay side seriously lacks already and the game is far to reliant on VC rather than the map.

So you probably don't shoot at players on long range, right? I mean I can't tell if an uniform is German or USA from distance. Can you? For me it would mean that players with HUD on can easily shoot from distance while I have to wait until I see clearly that it's an enemy. That's a disadvantage.

Checking to see if the person you're about to shoot is a friendly or otherwise isn't a disadvantage, that is a skill. I personally play with the markers off and I come from Darkest Hour 44-45/RO 41-45 and want the full hardcore experience (sadly 44-45 is no longer hardcore with the anti spawn kill punishment mechanics and map system showing enemy spawn points/vehicles behind your line or flanks).

What do you mean by texture streamer and mid maps? I'm kind of a noob since HLL is really the only game I ever play. RO was the only game I played before. I tried a lot of games but got bored instantly. One game is enough if it's a good one anyways :)

Of course you can, this is where the NO HUD policy trains your eye for you. Eventually you will learn. But of course I'm more easy pray for the enemy since I usually give them 1-2s to make sure it's not a friendly. So yeah I'm putting my self at a disadvantage, but I'm so much enjoying this it doesn't matter. It's not about making it easy. I hate modern games with their unskippable tutorials etc. You can have it all just let ME turn ♥♥♥♥ off so I can enjoy it too...
I also really enjoy it but it would be nice to have servers where everyone has the same disadvantage.

That switch forces all the mip maps to be loaded to the GPU memory, this makes the screen much more clear since the game isn't switching and streaming those in as the details change during distance that you have moved.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mipmap

Can you tell me how to turn them off? or tell me good settings for the game in general. I'm running a 9900K with a Radeon VII with 16GB VRAM so graphics memory is not a problem. I use my machine primarily for video editing on Mac OS that's why I have the Radeon. My monitor is a 32 inch 4k with only 60FPS and I'm running the game on 2560x1440. I'm using default settings at high but would be happy about suggestions.

r.TemporalAASharpness=0.8
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1.1
r.PostProcessAAQuality=4
r.SSR=0

The rest tweaks the Standard TAA and clarifies it too.

Coll thanks. I'll try when I'm back home...

This would be amazing, a real challange. I used to play without markers from friendlis at all, because i hate how te game looks that way, but as you can imagine, i got killed more than i killed, but that´s aint a problem. I´m the real deal, and they are just kiddos playing with cheats for me hahaha

Great idea but with the level of cheating, completely pointless.
