Recon planes are a realistic thing, obviously they were not used in the way they are here but I do believe them to have a good place here in HLL.

I would like to see them changed however. Instead of information being shown to everyone on the team, restrict said information to Commanders and Squad Leaders only, forcing them to communicate enemy positions and delegate defensive/offensive tasks to their Squad mates.

+1

Unfortunately, they took a different path ((and they make the battlefield look like a sea of cosmetics and nothing else. A lot of unnecessary tags, etc. The gameplay became terrible like physics and everything else. The initial version of the game was gorgeous even if it's small cons at that time, we were waiting for the Soviet Union, new weapons, etc.
Think of the recon planes as a counter to Map hackers, if we all have it, albeit limited time, it slightly reduces map hack effect, since we can see them as well.

With the introduction of this airplane, the whole strategy disappeared)), etc. Now, how do people, before they go to the point, start up the plane and see how many opponents there are, this is "cool"))
It’s like with maps, some fields were)), and now they are redoing them, which is happening with completely different maps.

And when you open the card, what terrible colors)) acidic eyes already flow out)) what they are guided by))

I personally like the recon abilities. It's not like carpet bombing was called in while forces were just approaching the objective or radio was available for each soldier. People, its still a game and as such its just an abstraction of ww2 warfare.
The recon plane is the best addition to HLL. A good commander will identify the location of attacking enemy troops from squad leaders then recon plane around the mark to locate the garry or outpost then call in artillery or a bombing run to clear out the target. How is this not realistic and likely done IRL? All you have to do is change positions after you hear the recon plane and its useless against you and likely leading the enemy to the wrong position to your advantage.
It should have looooong cooldown and restrict the information only to commander.

Completely behind this, however it certainly is a great teaching aid when in the field with a squad of noobs.

I think it at least it shouldn't give you realtime information. A delay of even 5-10 seconds would go a long way to this cod uav like tool

To me this is completely supporting both sides of the argument. Good comms with the SLs already tells you of enemy concentrations and garrisons. We already have a generation who can't read a clock or compass. Do we need red dot confirmation of what our SLs universally report.
I do agree to change directions to foil the recon but the enemy does it as well.

I knew when they added it that it would be controversial and arcade-like. Department of redundancy department... now with exciting colors!

I'd recommend trying to get into some competitive matches if you think recon planes have prevented high level strategic play from happening in the game. There's still plenty of chances for strategic and tactical play even with recon planes - the planes can't see everywhere at once and if a commander makes them fly over the wrong part of the map they may miss a lot of what is really happening. They're definitely way too cheap right now for sure and the cool down is far too low, but they in no way stop your team from coming up with ways of flanking and attacking the enemies.

+1 Whilst they are perhaps a little too cheap and cool down a little too quickly, the recon plane has quite a narrow band of effectiveness and flies in a straight line. It is most effective where the commander already has intel from recon observer and other SL's on likely troop positions and garrison/outpost locations - THEN bringing the recon plane in over a 'most efficient' route accross these points can be incredibly effective. Bringing it in blind straight accross the next objective is rarely useful.

After playing over 50 Matches since the Recon Plane is out, i gotta say i like it. You can suspect enemy garisons locations and ofc Tank positions. It's not Overpowerded in my Opinion and it changes the gameflow we had before.
Recon plane seems well balanced as it's only limited to the plane's flightline.. and if I understand correctly it shows only those who are not in cover and or are out and about..

One thing I do find is the frequenty of overflights seems to me a bit to muchl.. I've had matches that the reckon planes kept flying over, on both sides.. over and over, either this is due to the fact that it's doesn't cost much or the timer seems quite short.

yet despite this I think the developers did a nice job balancing things out with it.. i find it's not overpowering, people can still hide from it and it's only limited in the area it covers.
