StG44: ahistorical rate of fire
Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know that the StG44 ingame does not posses it's historical RoF of 540 rpm. In HLL it fires noticably slower than this, more akin to an M3 Grease gun.

The actual StG44 fires noticably faster, eventhough you will find occasional videos of it firing slowly due either to a worn out recoil spring or underloaded ammunition. Properly maintained (recoil spring still in good shape) shooting milspec ammo it will fire at between 540-600 rpm.

StG44 manual (9 rps = 540 rpm):

i like the slowe rate of fire since i can Aim instead of fireing 2 secounds and then aiming in the sky

Same could be said for the Thompson and the BAR as well. Both cyclic rates feel lower than their real life counter parts. I know both weapons had variants with different cyclic rates, especially the BAR had a ROF toggle. And honestly, all the automatic weapons feel slower. Maybe it's a balancing thing. Can't wait to get some legit SFX for all of them.

I feel this is another example of gameplay > pure historical accuracy. Hell Let Loose, in my opinion, strikes a good balance of giving that feel of being in the heat of ww2 while still being a fun game.

Surprised no one brought up the mg42...seems veeery slow compared to RL.

I'm thinking that for this weapon specifically, they're waiting for the animation update to add in the barrel change, other wise it'd be even more of a beast.

Does anyone know if the animation update will change any of the weapons (I know that things like reloaded, melee, etc will be changed/added, does that mean a re skin of sorts?)?

I hope the balance stays so. Don't wanna these X is better than Y threads and calling each other fanboys.

The MG42 also had a variable cyclic rate dependent on the bolts used (900-1,500 rpm).

Beat me to it.... mg42 is no where near 1000-1200 rpm, agree prob needs animation update to come close to historically accurate.

Great vids Spitzer, jealous lol, u got to fire a stg !! A friends father has every gun licence possible, shot a tommy gun, AK, MP40.. good stuff.

The low recoil from the 8mm kurz is clearly visible. Scopes should be an option.

The weapons in this game lack the historical values to them. Like you can't reload the M1 Garand even if it still has some rounds in it when its proven you can. The developers are just lazy. Post Scriptum does a better job but that game was carried by Squad in both finance and its game engine.

Perhaps you are lazy, too. Or more likely, you have other priorities and just haven't gotten around to look for what's in the development pipeline.

Guys I am not sure if HLL is aiming for historical accuracy or not, but if they are then the RoF has to be corrected, as right now it's way too low.
