Nope, it's a good decision. Too many people want to play sniper, not enough spotter (who is the actual boss of the sniper).
You want to play sniper? You better know someone to play spotter, or if you have the opportunity to play random sniper, better follow those orders.
You haven’t played with me then. Level 8 or 9 spotter and level 3 sniper. I always let other people snipe but I do realize I’m in the minority.
Don't listen to these "haters" LOL, yeah, it's stupid. While I don't mind squads, the game shouldn't force it because it really doesn't work out right. Class limitations to some extent are ok but the game is too restrictive. Forcing one who creates a squad to use a certain weapon is dumb as well. The majority of the players don't even work as a squad correctly by choice so forcing it leaves the whole implementation in the game kind of a broken concept overall. Some will say, well you're supposed to play like this, but most players don't, they just work around the mechanic so in reality, why even have it. It's like the medic class, virtually no one uses it. The vast majority of the time there are zero medics. I see what the game designers intent was, but it just doesn't work out in practice. You'll of course get folks in online squads who say otherwise, but if the game relied on nothing but those type of people there wouldn't be nearly as many players and it would be virtually dead or limited to locked servers. The game needs a major rethink in some aspects which it will never get so it just is what it is. Sad really, could have been so much better.
A sniper running around near me, a grunt, on the front line while I'm being slaughtered by artillery and machine gunners in a round of warfare helps me love them soo much.
The squad setup for a sniper in this game is prone to school friends getting together and deciding to have turns at being snipers.
Snipers can make a huge difference if they know what they're doing.
Not really, pretty good decision, the spotter is the boss and can kick the sniper if they're just playing the game like battlefield.
I like playing spotter and have had some really good games with random people. I have my best games with those I've played with before but don't know personally, we just ended up being a good team once and keep at it.
I also join recon squads where the spotter left, which happens a lot, because they wanted to play sniper not spotter. Get a lot of snipers that appreciate the OPs I put down as we do our thing.
The problem I have isn't with "spotter" it's with some of the snipers who don't want to take our garrisons and suppress artillery. They just want to march into the points and help out that way, when that isn't our role, I mean sometimes we do it, but only about 5% of the time depending on how the game is going.
The best matches I've ever played in this game have been when people use the roles instead of just 4 players going as a rifleman with an assault and automatic rifleman. I think the limitations are good because it forces people to play that part in the squad and not just run around like headless chickens like they do in all riflemen squads. I like that you unlock another loadout for each role too when you level up because it gives the motivation to play that role more to level up and do what you're supposed to for the most XP. It's because you can unlock more weapons for every role though that I think your last point is a moot one.
I actually agree with you to an extent. I wish more people would play the roles in the squad on average because there is always one or two squads just full of newbies who don't even have a SL. I think the game does work when people play the game as a squad and listen to their SL and play all of the roles that are needed to be effective. The rifleman roles are completely useless. In short, I agree with you but it's the players and not the actual game IMO.
This simply isn't true. At least on the UK servers that I play. There is often at least one medic (but more like 3 usually) on the main capture points and I often play medic myself. I think you need to play on some better servers for a better experience. Have you considered playing on Powerbits? Lots of nice people who play the game properly there.
I mean, I hear you but I just don't agree with you. I like how the game is right now and I'm excited for the future updates to bring in more content. I think there are some people but that is mostly limited to new players and you can find servers that have a lot more experienced ones like Powerbits for example (I just mention it because I play on there a lot myself) and you can have a really good experience with the game.
You are completely right and it is so difficult to be able to play recon because you get people who seem to load in instantly and make a locked squad before you can even join a team. Playing recon is fun the like 3 times I've been able to do it and I'd like to do it more, even if I'm just the spotter.
