Spawn camping at an all time high, mostly by usa.
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I can just imagine Arty having a stream up, watching the map and then setting their guns on the Garrisons for a one shot on them. Completely ruins games.
Yeah, I wasn't sure just how hard it is. I know there's a guy in the Netherlands I watch often, who has an overlay on his map everytime he brings it up. So he must have the overlay bound to his map key. I didn't think it would be that hard, but maybe some of the streamers aren't keen to it.
I don't think it's the streamers fault, but it would be nice to be able to let a streamers know how detrimental it is to their game and other's games when they do it, and be able to direct them to a place on streamlabs for them to use an easy overlay. If they decide to use it or not, is up to them.
The team are in the process of drawing up plans to create some sort of 'Streamer Friendly' mode that allows them to enjoy the HLL experience without getting sniped, as well as stopping nefarious viewers exploiting the integrity of the match.
As this is in its early stages it won't be an immediate addition, but it's in our sights now.
That's so good to hear. Thanks Jonno.
This isn't about one or two Garrisons being taken out by Arty. It's about multiple garrisons and nodes being taken out in a matter of minutes across the entirety of the map, with freakish accuracy and frequency. During an entire match.
I'll often put out "bait" Garrisons in the middle of nowhere on a map, completely useless parts of the map, and often find they are gone in some games within a matter of minutes. Along with the rest of my garrisons on the map.
Stream sniping is a thing. Streamers have to deal with it all the time in multiplayer games. It's why it's called "Stream sniping". In the case of HLL, it can ruin the integrity of the game and the community. I'm not calling out anyone in particular, but sadly, it happens.
I can never truly tell when it happens, but if I wanted too, I could fire up a stream on my dual monitor set up, join that streamers server and jump on arty and pick off Garrisons, Troop locations or run and take out Nodes if I wanted too. There are people who have admitted to doing this.
I really fail to see why anyone would argue about putting some sort of protection for streamers to protect not only their own gameplay, but the gameplay of the other 49 players on his or her team. It's a complete win/win for everyone involved. It's not forced on the streamer, but it's there if they want to protect their map while streaming, I'm baffled why you would argue against something like this.
Talking from an arty perspective that would ruin the game completely for me at least.
Now I do agree that sometimes it's questionable how fast garrisons will fall to the Quake Soldiier
running around dodging left and right like he's on some kind of medication to evade people shooting at him in his effort to get close to that magical poof distance that awards him a take down of an enemy spawn.
Yet we don't have to forget that people have been playing this game quite a few hours in and know by experience where the enemy might set up.. Currently we see so many supply drops close to a circle that it's very easy to determine where there might be a garrison.. think edge of maps.. people will use all and every trick in the book to win.. on the new hill map, people go jumping up and down to cross a river just to get nodes down that are hard to reach..
As for Arty I can tell you from experience.. that by reading the map and a voice call from the front.. you can bring fire down onto a suspected spawnpoint.. once you hear those clicks you send a few more and next thing.. poof enemy garrison is down.. 80 percent will build a new garrison in the same spot so just wait a few minutes and send some more rounds.. poof second garrison down. then there is also the SL and Commanders who can see with bino's where the enemy is coming from and they will relay this to all and place markers.. heck if a mark is on the money it only takes 1 or 2 rounds to blow up a spawn point.
Nevertheles it's impossible to get your garrison blown up each and everytime in a different spot when there is no visible enemy nearby.. and one has every right to question things.. like how the hell...??
Yet from what i gather the developers are aware of the situation and announced some changes like changing the spawn meta gameplay..
I think after 1000+ hours I might need a break, seeing to many silly things of late.. from quake twitch players to people yelling at others for not doing what they say.. in my case i have found that enjoyable games are less frequent now then they ever where.. maybe I just get put off by the quake feeling i seem to get of late.. can't wait for the next new changes and patches.
just my 2c.
Now where is my cowboy hat.. RDR2 storyline here i come..
Whenever I play Commander, I never put my Garrisons on or near a Strongpoint. I never put them near buildings or in well known positions on the map. Unless it's a desperation Garrison to try to save a point. I'll put them well out of the way of the Strongpoint, sometimes up to 100m away if I have too. I'm an Arty player, so when I'm placing Garrisons, I think like an Arty player or a Recon player.
That being said, after 800 hours in this game, you kind of start getting a feel of how games are going. There's been a few games the past few weeks, where I'll have 5 or 6 Garrisons down around points. 3-5 minutes later I open my map and they are all gone. I know sometimes teams spread out a lot. I know sometimes luck places a factor as well, but this happens a little too much to be sheer "luck".
Sometimes there's just times where Garrisons are in bad places, or just someone finds them and removes them. Or recon players who are having a good game. I can see that happening. Teams push a point and are flanking, Garrisons go down. I get that part of the game. I can see that happening as a Commander.
Either way, it's great to hear that there is a stream friendly way to play the game coming over the horizon. I think we'll see a lot less stream sniping at least. Players are always going to find a way. I think the game is getting better and better. I feel your pain though, those steam roll games are boring. No matter what side you're on. I miss the games in July and August of 2019 where almost every match was a slug fest. Those games seem like rare gems now. I took a break too recently, so hope you come back.
