Hell Let Loose

Hell Let Loose

Statistiche:
Thompson Bullet Velocity
The bullet velocity on the thompson is extremely low. At 50 yards enemies can out run the rounds coming at them. Increase the velocity and lower damage slightly or increase recoil in full auto.

Lets assume from public, real life data, that a 45acp fired from a Thompson is going 935 ft/s.
50y is 150 ft.
That 45acp bullet would take 0.160 seconds to travel 50y.
Lets assume your target is running at 9.09 MPH (or 13.33 ft/s (repeating of course)), perpendicular to you
In 0.160 seconds that character would run 2.13 ft.

If you aim AT the center your running target @ 50m, you'll miss by about 2 feet behind their center.
In conclusion, welcome to ballistics and lead your shots by firing slightly in FRONT of a moving target.

Edit: 10MPH to 9.09 MPH. If someone could calculate in game running speed, that'd clear things up considerably.

Grids are 200m square, it takes a player 22 seconds on average to cross a grid, a player runs 9.09 mph.
No worries.
Concerning the OPs comments.

IMO all of the weapons in HLL currently are a bit slow when it comes to bullet velocity.

I do not believe that the Thompson needs ANY nerfing as it just now after the update became a viable weapon. The MP40 could still use a little love.

Over all the gun play has improved a great deal with the addition of the ballistics overhaul and personally I feel like this is far from the last enhancement that small arms is going to receive as the game progresses.
we have a bigger issue of invisible walls in the game, then with bullets
some textures are smaller then their hit-boxes, and its a real pain
Ever since the ballistics update, the bullet velocity for all small arms have been drastically scaled down. It's a combined result of netcode optimization and people crying about getting easily killed from 200+meters. Just accept it for what it is, it's this or "hitscan".

yeah it was really easy to snipe in this game, its a good thing they balanced it, it forced people to engage at closer range

It's not 'this or hitscan'
Game is in development and can easily change. As so much of it has already.
I love the SMGs currently especially the Thompson.. you just need to lead and try to single tap/2 round burst if they are moving at 50 meters.
Weird. While I would still prefer a rifle, I feel like I am suddenly better with the thompson after the update.

There's a good reason you are doing better with a sub right now.
Prior to the Update when we still were using hitscan the full auto weapons also used a cone of fire so the Thompson seriously suffered under this combination. Now that hitscan is no longer the standard and the cone of fire is out of the picture you can actually hold the Tommy on target and single tapping the trigger actually helps you land shots at greater range. In testing I was able to score a few head shots at 200m.
SMG’s are poopy. They use a cone spread when firing so your bullets don’t always go straight out the barrel. They also need to add it so 45 acp to the chest is a one shot at closer ranges.
MP40 could use a buff, 9mm should be effective out to 200 meters, but I think the Thompson is fine as the .45 does actually go that slow IRL.

It is slow, but I think it should hit harder.
