Hell Let Loose
Pressing a move key while holding breath shouldn't take you out of zoom.
Fix this now

Hmm, I disagree. The hold breath function to simulate a steady aim would be entirely thrown off by moving and should cause you to go out of zoom.

Why not just have it where moving takes you into the normal ADS state w/o holding breath?
If you have a rifle at home try RL ADS and take a few steps. It will not only pull your eye off the sights but your rear notch is no longer lined up with your front blade.
Perhaps if you tread very lightly but...

I would have to agree with big chef here. I think its fine the way it is.

I don't think you fully understand what I'm saying. In the game you can already walk around while aimed in just by holding the aim key. In order to enter the state where you zoom in and steady the weapon sights, you need to stand still and hold the Shift key. While you are in this state, and you press a movement button, instead of taking you straight back to the default aim state like in most other games, it takes you all the way to where the weapon is at the hip.

If you are watching over an area and zooming in to get a closer view, and you want to move your position while keeping your eyes down the barrel, you need to let go of the Shift key, wait until the transition between holding breath and not holding breath has happened (about half a second), then move. The only other option when you move is to fully take the gun down to the hip, move, then aim back in, but this method may cause you to lose sight of any targets you were tracking.
errr... i think you're talking about the difference between ambushing a target (letting it come into your kill zone) vs. tracking targets... (aiming at targets who are moving). There's a HUGE difference between the bio-mechanical (aiming) requirements for each type of targeting... in one, you ARE NOT moving... hence, you can keep your cheek on the buttstock, move your eyeballs, and be fine... yet in the other situation, if you never remove your cheek from the buttstock to survey your targets, you'd have to have eyes on the side of your head to see them, and your time to acquire a new target would be a lot higher, as you've narrowed your field of focus to a tiny percentage of your actual field of view.

and i'm not even talking about moving... i'm just talking about shooting stationary vs. moving your torso... add in MOVING YOUR BODY, and your talking about all kinds of need to lower your weapon... stability, surveying your surroundings, etc.

video example;
https://youtu.be/dWkaowTZoCc?t=213

only ever moves his torso, and still has to stop 'aiming down sights'

it just sounds like you're asking for the gun to not move at all even while you are... which is a very arcade FPS shooter style, and something i'd rather not see in the game.

...this isn't Serious Sam ;)

My hold breath key acts as a sprint key even after rebinding to L-ALT. I use L-Shift to toggle sprint and if I press L-ALT to hold breath and then move I start to sprint...
moving while holding breath defeats the point of holding breath to begin with...

The current system is semi realistic, you hold a position, aim, control breathing/slow heart rate, and pop off shots.

holding your breath while trying to move while aiming while carrying 110lb+ of gear is just completely absurd, whether here or IRL

If you want an arcade game where you have lazer aiming while jumping and flying through the air 20ft high and killing a dozen enemies before your feet hit the ground, go play call of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or whatever its called these days...
You missed my point entirely. I get not being able to hold breath and move. I don't get why when I move while holding breath, I sprint. Even when both keys are bound separately.
now that your issue has been refined to a keybind issue; i'm inclined to agree with you on the 'hard binds' some of the function keys in this game seem to have...

...moving them or rebinding them doesn't seem to stop the 'original bind' from trying to do its thing.

especially annoying when trying to change the 'interaction' button.

but your issue is totally different than OP's apparent request for gyo-stabilized wire-guided aiming.
