How to play with friends?

Hi! I really like the game and bought it for 2 friends of mine, so we can have some fun on the battlefield. Turns out, there's no ingame-friendslist and the only way is to follow my buddy, once he is joining a server and tells me so - because Steam doesn't even show that. Once we're in the server, if it's not full yet anyway, we hopefully find enough spots in the same team and then we can finally talk over mic again, because for some reason using Discord and HLL at the same time mutes the mic in HLL.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it really supposed to work like that? If it wasn't for that, I'd recommend the game, but right now it's quite annoying.

You're not doing anything wrong my man. The steam overlay (join onto a friend) worked somewhat sporadically in the past, but with addition of and subsequent changes to the server queue system, the ability to use the overlay and join on a friend does not work at all right now.

The devs know how important it is to make it as easy as possible to join in on a buddy, so it will be addressed in the future.

Like you said, currently the best way is to use discord to coordinate which server/side you are joining...not ideal at all, but it's an adequate placeholder for now (methinks they've got bigger fish to fry!).

Any idea why using a mic in both HLL and Discord at the same time doesn't work? It would make it a bit easier at least.

Itll attempt to join, but I think that when its full or having alot of connections going to it , has a chance that itll pick a empty server instead.

As ive seen it'll work normally, but not pick a side and open a squad for you.
