you hit the point. maybe only 6/8 per side just to start the map and then replaced by human players. I understand purists but bots are needed especially in a game like HLL or newcomer when see 90% of servers at zero, just after a couple of games they leave, just in time for a refund. Of course programming decent bots is a non-priority challenge at the moment, its a huge task and HLL now in EA has other things to fix and add.
And I think the kind of player which is needed for a "multiplayer tactical shooter" would do the same. Because if you don't have more players the servers will stay populated with bots.
That's my thoughts.
I don't have social anxiety or anything, but i do find it way more relaxing to play a game against bots.
I therefore have put a real curse on this game .
Playing with/against Bots is way more relaxing (okay with me) and lets you learn the maps and game mechanics in a much more controlled way.
So I would ALWAYS pledge for a Bots option, kind of like
vs Bots with AI unit (offline)
Not sure if the other options would make sense:
vs Bots with friends in a unit (online)
vs Bots with friends controlling an AI unit (online)
But buttom line...the most fun and the best experience will always be playing with human players. THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT.
Awesome game. And it puts bots in to fill empty player slots.
Verdun came out 4 years ago and did not have bots and that game's dev's added bots in last year,
To the dismay of all the gamer's that had that game for years now being forced to play in 32x32 with bots filling out all open slots,
Tannenberg is the same thing with only one type of game mode 32x32 with bots filling out all open slots,
And no options to play in a bot free game mode other than making a custom match and trying to get enough player's to join your lobby,

If the hell let loose dev's ever do add bots i hope that they will not make the same mistake that the vertan dev's did and have two game mode's one with out bots and a second with bots.
Does the bots not get booted when real players join?
In tannenberg they do. Bots just fill the spots when there are no players. When a player joins a bot gets removed.
A simple solution, if bots were added make 1 server with and one without.
I absolutely hate bots in games, but it'd be nice for people who do like them to be able to host a private game or to join a bot server.
I'd rather play with 6 other people in a tiny set of teams than bots in all honesty.
Keep the raw PVP alive and have bots in other servers to keep the game afloat too.
I'm downloading this game now and expecting it to be fully dead already.
Edit: given up, this game starts in awful settings and won't change resolution, servers are dead and I bet they'll add bots soon anyway cos that's what failure games do.
