Bots
Is this game something that can be played solo with 99 other bots making up the two sides?

What did you expect from a multiplayer game that is all about teamwork?

Bots would be great with the ability to command your squad.

What is the aversion to bots? Some people don't like multiplayer but also want to be able to enjoy what a game has to offer, why not make all parties happy and have the option for bots for those who want them and the option to not have them for those who don't. I don't understand why adding extra options is such a big deal. I know they aren't the easiest things to code but it's nice to have the option. What are you going to do when you log on and the servers are empty? Log off, where's the fun in that. Maybe a player can't get to the game during peak hours, should they not be allowed to enjoy the game? The way I see it is that bots offer a way to enjoy the game at any time regardless of player counts. People often bock at the decision to add bots but multiplayer gaming changes with the wind, players will either move on or stick around but at least bots prevent the game from being abandoned if the player base falls below a certain threshold required to sustain player enjoyment. That's just my two cents.

TBH, there is a lot of people that would just buy the game to play entirely with bots or coop with a small group of people.

The people are not scary... you should put aside your fear of defeat by people and just enjoy the game.
Well, I personally don't have it and likely wouldn't get it until I have options to play on full servers regardless of time of day or player count so I guess that's a no from me. Too bad, it looked like it could have been fun. Back to CoD 2 I suppose

I, like many others, suffer from social anxiety disorder and feel overly stressed sharing a battlefield with other live players, it's difficult to explain something this crippling to the average gamer, enjoying being part of a balls to the wall battle with paper targets is just more relaxing and stress free. I can't put into words the feelings on this, play something else someone might say, sure that's true, but are there other huge battlefield games with bots like this? Really have no idea.

Until they do or don't, I'd recommend having a look at this... I don't own it but sounds like what you're after atm.

Not being an expert on game development, creating bots with a decent AI is not an easy task. HLL relies heavily on teamwork and communication. You need to flank. Create outpost and garrisons. Creating AI that can perform these tasks would almost be a game in itself.

That said - if it could be done - bots to fill up servers would be nice. They could then be replaced when real people log in.

havent purchased HLL yet.
Some games use bots to fill a server to a low player count, meaning 12 "players" is the minimum, i prefer not to have play against bots, but with dedicated servers, it can be a sort of warm up mode until enough humans have joined.
I would however say if it becomes a planned option, save it until the end of development. Im far more interested in many items already on the roadmap.

It is not a matter of being scared but, like others have said lacking the ability to connect to a server is a major problem for me. And it would be nice, like the game Tannenberg, when you can't connect or there are no other humans you could play and learn how to play the game with bots.

When the game come out there was no warning about the limitations people would encounter trying to connect to a server. So, for me it is a little disapointing I can't play HLL when "I" would like but, instead it is playing WHEN I can because of high ping. And I don't think anyone is demanding bots, just expressing their point of view based on their personal likes or needs.
