Is not a jeep.
Yea, takes awhile to master.
I found my team loved having me
As driver once I'd mastered it.
Worth it.
Most of my game time has been tank driving. Love it. Not too hard to master. Avoid going through forest with tank it doesn't turn out well most of the time. Foy has been fixed in regards to getting stuck on fences and what not and I understand they will fix that up on the other 2 maps with the new update as well later this month. It took me about a game to figure it out.
Like Acemaster said. Going into any forest is going to get you killed. It's far too hard to spot enemy AT, it's very hard for the gunner to traverse because the main gun can get stuck on trees and it's a nightmare for the driver if you get into a sticky situation. Hurtgen Forest can be a real pain in the ass for any driver.
I'm also learning not to listen to commanders or friendly infantry who tell you to "move up". They aren't going to save you from enemy AT or enemy Shermans getting the beat on you. As a driver and a gunner, be cautious and know when to move up and engage. Support the infantry by all means, but never, ever put yourself into a dangerous situation.
Had my best game just today, our crew scored 13 Tank kills and 109 infantry kills on St. Marie. I had a beast of a driver who knew when to stop, where to position and we flanked alot of enemy tanks. Alot of people want to face enemy tanks head on. If you hear those MG's going off on a Sherman or Panther, it's worth it to take a few extra min to get around them and flank them.
Great advice Stryker! What I have seen is most tanks and some crew members just want to charge in without checking their surrounds and don't LISTEN to what is going on around them. Was sitting back a little from the action today firing at a tank and another person jumped in and drove us into all the fire and of course in 30 seconds we were dead. (another reason to assign the tank to a crew, where not just anyone can get in and take it) Also had a commander tell me today..... get out there in front of the troops! Knowing better than to do that but, to shut him up I did and well, no big surprise, didn't last a minute!
How true and would like to see that position have a machine gun added.
