Analskin Skywanker, perhaps you could put a note in there. Not a huge fan of your name, but I like your drive for a solution. But please do spread the word about turning up the nameplates, as Renincarnated suggests. On most servers, players are saying it a lot now, and it does seem to be having an effect. As far as real TK-ers, however, the problem remains.
Make noise with us.
What are your thoughts on this?
While being able to punish intentional TKs is obviously a great thing, I've always been very critical about simple forgive/punish systems, because in competitive games fielding opposing teams, they can get very counterproductive.
While there's a beneficial learn-the-hard-way factor to this system (because dying without a fight is frustrating), more often than not, a lot of people end up punishing accidental TKs just because they can or are bitter, which has the ill effect of crippling your own team, sometimes at very critical moments, such as securing an objective, when you need the manpower.
A middle ground could be a punish system that doesn't necessarily kill the other offending player, but cripple him in a way that doesn't instantly affect the team. Like increasing his respawn timer, for example. Anything that would mitigates the negative outcome it has for the team to punish one of its own, really.
Either way, the effect would have to be made obvious to the offending player, so he/she is aware of the consequences of his actions. A lot of games with forgive/punish systems don't make it obvious enough in my opinion.
That would be great option, Forgive or Punish, also the more a player team kill his mates, the longer he has to wait for respawn again.
I don't get it, you guys made it very good that one can set up to 500 mtrs the name tags in the settings. If one have set it to max like i have then there is no way you can team kill a buddy. It can only happen when someone suddenly walks in your line of fire or with Arty Fire / grenade etc.
Just last night my group was playing and we had 2 people on our team trolling and team killing people left and right, one was going around shooting any squad leaders and medics he could find on our team in the head, the other was walking up to large groups, screaming and then detonating his grenade on the group. These were in the same match, neither was successfully vote kicked despite several attempts by multiple people and the majority of the team could see they were just trolling and hindering the entire team. There's a serious problem if people like this can't even be removed with ease.
I'm all for it.
It could push people to pay attention and be careful. Still, it won't prevent some from running directly in front of a moving tank.
This!
Worked great in RO2 for years.
Say sorry = forgive
Say nothing = punish
Thats how i do it.
how about this
1st TK = you get punised by death yourself.
2nd TK = you get kicked off the server.
There are a few problems with this. There is a situation that happens quite frequently, in fact nearly every match I play where I am killed by a team mate while lying wounded and they toss a nad in the direction of the action. I have no issue with dying this way and in fact have called out locally for team mates to nad my location as it will save lives and perhaps take or save the point. With the system suggested not only would I die but my TM would be punished for doing what he should in that situation.
I acknowledge that there is an issue here that needs addressing, however I do not believe this ridged 1st time death 2nd time kick is a solution.
